What is causing this ActiveX pop up?

There was more to the message but I was playing a game that this pop up pulled me out of so I closed it immediately and went back into the game. I had Firefox and Skype open, I noticed when Googling the issue that something relating to Skype came up. I believe someone said an advertisement being shown in Skype caused the problem? Short of closing Skype, is there any way to resolve this issue and make sure it doesn't pop up again? I'm playing Path of Exile in hardcore and don't want the game to minimize again =p

Is this an issue with Internet Explorer? I never use IE, but is that how the advertisement is being displayed through?
