for anyone having problems loading a map...

simply click on the bf4icon that appears in your desktop task bar...

then alt tab out and it will minimise the game into window mode and the game will continue loading...

takes 5mins... then alt enter to get full screen...

works everytime...

Taz, just go buy a Dell and join their forums if you do not want to wrap your head around the benchmarking thing and the quest more FPS or better benchmarking numbers.

Your complaint is akin to going to a NASCAR race and bitching about why the people are racing in the first place. Don't go to the race and dont ask questions about why it exists when you voluntarily went there . This isn't a childish venture for epeen. This is a HOBBY and people enjoy benchmarking within the framework of benchmarks and websites, like hwbot.org, that are setup specifically for this type of thing.

Actually it's already not as bland as I thought initially.

Appears tank shells are landing to the right of where I aim. Tested on a nearby building and the ground. Can someone else confirm/deny?

I had a tank shell glitch last night. I was next to a barrier and the barrel was 3 ft. above it, yet I couldn't shoot through it. Kept throwing up pieces of concrete like it was hitting it. I just ended up bailing and chasing the dude down by foot. I had a really laggy server too later last night. Zero kills when I know I had at least 3 guys dead to rights. I'd unload a hole clip from behind just to have them turn around and burst me a couple times and done. Typical Beta stuff we all went through in BFBC2 and BF3 To be expected !

BTDT. My bad. Wasn't meant to besmirch the fine work done by all in bench marking and overclocking and sharing information in the 'real' world. I got a little peeved when my intelligence was backhanded. There's always one or two on every forum. Me I was just looking for anyone with similar issues that may have found a work around. Stepping on toes is never an answer. Saw the BF4 discussion thread and thought I'd give it a go. BTW I do bare bone computer building.
And from what I have gleaned from other users Windows 8 and 8.1 still has a little debugging to do themselves as far as gaming platforms go, users that I know personally that have both feel 8 is more attuned to touch screen users and didn't care for it as a personal choice and prefer 7.1, but do like a lot of features it offers.

i really don't know as to why some do and some don't we all play bf3 with no issue and have for several years along with other games. i do get about a hundred and three thousand score on 3d mark so the rig is not too shabby..like i said about a third are having issues and our clan is from all over the world. in my op i went over the stuttering and lag and freezes to the point of unplayability. i was hoping to find a thing or two that would clarify the issues that i and others are experiencing. punkbuster became an issue after the game was out a few days and that has cleared up and i usually do a windows update check at least once a day for s--ts and giggles. the only pattern i've noticed is some people come on this forum to tout their rigs with graphs and fps and brag on how great their stuff is...got over that in grade school.

Yep I agree but I initially started out in the OP discussing BF4 playablility and have opened a can of worms, look at my last post, personally I am all for sharing info on spec's and what not to make purchasing decisions, not slingin' mud. Talking about battlefield four beta the discussion was leaning towards the servers that origin offers at present that is causing across the board issues for about a third of the users, just got off team speak and it was a hot button issue for roughly a third from the usa uk and australia to name a few. Their rigs run the gamut as well in other words it wasn't a particular set up it seems to boil down to ''some do and some don't''.

Not meaning to be ugly or smart assed or any thing really, it all started out simply as stuttering and lagging and freezing to date in the game itself and it led to all sorts of answers like...do you know what beta is?...birds of a feather...get a Dell....quit bitching...everything except real input...kinda reminds me of Congress these days.

Otherwise I might conclude it is lag afterall, eventhough it "feels" distinctively different than lag.

Framedrops are normal, everyone's getting them. It's just how it is, there's nothing you can do to fix it completely. It's not ping. I had server lag (ping) and it was obvious.

Well I can't vouch for them but I am getting frame drops, my buddy is and the in-game chat in BF4 was full of people talking about it. Don't worry about it urza, the only way to improve it is to turn settings all the way down so framerate is so high that the drop doesn't go low enough to notice. I improved it by a lot when I had everything on low.

Well guys I took a little time out from coding last night to play and so far it's far better than BF3 to me. Now back to coding.. hehehe If anyone is interested I should have my "BF4 Beta Config Utility" up today. So far, I really like all the extra stuff in the config file. I can already see implementation of the Oculus Rift with a Stereoscopic setting and a headtracking setting. Now there is nothing that says Oculus Rift, but who else is really pushing that tech? hehehe

I was able to play about 30 minutes last night. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the overall feel of play. I took out my engineer torch and chipped away at concrete, destroyed a few statues, panes of glass, etc. I'm really impressed with the glass damage myself, it looks more organic.

The hit boxes seemed fine with me, but I wasn't really paying that much attention to them last night. I'll hit the beta hard this weekend.

I did have an issue of the game crashing on me during the black login screen. However, launching a couple of extra times resolved the issue, so I don't know what it was exactly.
