Hello everyone,
I been across multiple forums looking for advice on the problem I'm currently encountering but I've had no luck at all.
This is my current setup:
ASUS MAXIMUS VI EXTREME LGA 1150 Intel Z87
Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150
ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5 GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5
SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD512BW 2.5" 512GB
G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB
ASUS Black Blu-ray Drive SATA Model BC-12B1ST/BLK/B/AS
Creative Sound Blaster Z Series ZXR
Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme (CLW0224)
Rosewill HERCULES-1600 1600W
ASUS VG248QE Black 24" 144Hz 1ms (GTG)
Every time I try to run the games mentioned before the computer restarts (no BSOD) and in event viewer I see Kernel Power Event 41, but when I play a game like Injustice God's Among Us I don't have this problem and I can play for long period of hours without issues. What is interesting is that as soon as I go to Nvidia Geforce Experience and I click Optimize for the game Injustice I get the Kernel Power Event 41 as soon as the graphics are loading.
I would like to mention what steps I been doing in order to diagnose this issues without luck.
- Run the computer with minimum hardware requirements
- Updated to latest BIOS
- Installed only the necessary software (Intel chipset, LAN, Wireless, etc.)
- Not installed Asus software
- Tried different set of drivers from beta old to WHQL
- RMAe'd video-card and motherboard twice
- Asus PC Diagnostic Software say's every component is working fine
I sent the computer to a repair shop to test the following:
- Power Supply (fine) they swapped to another computer, tested voltage, stress test and works fine under heavy load
- They swapped my video-card into another computer and works without issues, BUT when they plug it back on my build, Kernel Power 41 shows.
- They swapped my video card with another video that meet or exceed the specs of the one I own and there is no problems, no restarts everything fine.
- They tested memory and it's OK
The repair shop say my problem is directly related with my video card (specifically my model) no matter if I RMAe'd they sent me another brand new one.
I been having these problems from day one and I also seen on Newegg (where I bought all my hardware components) a lot of negative reviews of this specific card.
I have an open RMA from Rosewill to send my PSU and they will give me a brand new one but somehow I keep thinking the problem is the video card and not the PSU as the repair shop mentioned.
Does what the repair shop makes sense based on their diagnose?
