Laptop Recommendation

Hi im looking to buy a new laptop for starting university in september. I have had a good look around know roughly what spec i want. I would just like your opinion on each model i have chosen and i am open to any new ideas on other models too. I would like to spend between £800 - £900 and would like to have the new santa rosa technology. Atleast the T7100 but preferably the T7300, 2GB Ram, not extremely fussed about graphics but it would be nice to have for light gaming i would also like to keep size down to either 14" or 15" screen size roughly. Oh and a descent battery life would be nice too. I have looked at a couple of laptops the new Acer Aspire 5920 has lots of features for the money but i think it is really hideous However the current favourite is the Asus F3Sv

I've used a newer Asus brand laptop that I liked alot. You can get them on Newegg for around $1200 U.S. You would have to add another stick of memory though. But it comes with the 2.0ghz Core2 and 8600m graphics.

He's in the UK, so the prices won't be relevant but the models might help.

TBH I don't know much about laptops so I can't help you on specific models, but the two brands which would be top of my list are Toshiba and ASUS (Toshiba stuff tends to be pretty solid, I've never had anything from them break) and obviously Dell are good (albeit a expensive) if you want to customise your laptop to have exactly the specs you want. You could take a look at Mesh Computers as well, they let you custom build a bit like Dell but their prices may be a little better.

Edit: actually you can't customise much with Mesh laptops, it must be more their desktops that are like Dell.

Mac is the best OS for everything other than gaming!

I'm sure you could save documents in the right format so that they work with both, but TBH I'd say stick with Windows if that's what you're used to. The laptops are a little cheaper plus you know how to do everything, and more software works (yes, I know that Windows works on Macs, but what's the point in buying a Mac to run Windows?!).

Yes, you can transfer both. All files can be shared as well.

The point is if you already have a copy of windows on hand, pop it end and then you can play all your windows games on your mac..

Like I said, Mac is a better OS besides the gaming aspect!

I prefer Windows, but Mac is better. The only reason I prefer Windows is because windows has more developers.
