I need some help please,
I'm gonna be building building another puter just for games and I have a Intel P4 3.46Ghz EE 1066Mhz LGA775 and would like some help deciding on a MoBo that I can OC, still new to OC but I try. I have a E6600 and just from reading posts here I had it up to 3.79Ghz but backed it down to a 3.60Ghz.
I'm partial to ASUS , never had any other MoBo than them.
Can anyone give me some advice ?
Thanx in advance

What type of budget? and whats wrong with your current system. It will game just fine. Why not spend the cash, if you insist on spending, on a newer/better Gfx card or monitor?

There's nothing wrong with this system I just got done building it few months ago.
I have the 3.46 CPU chip sitting here doing nothing and want it to do some good.
Funny, the ATI card was the last thing I got for it.
As for the budget, I don't want to spend $300 because I went too far with this one at $260, but I don't want anything cheap that wont last and is workable.
I want to build something that's gonna smoke, like I said it'll be for games only, and last for a few years.

Well, if you want a system that will smoke in games, my advice would be to sell the P4EE and the ATI card. The P4 EE will smoke, but not the way you think it will:D (especially if your thinking of OC it to 4Ghz). It won't compete even with you e6600 at 3.6. Not sure what the going selling prices on those are, but with what you get for those, and whatever you were going to spend additionally, I'd get the new 8800Gt or, if you can wait, the ATI equivallent when it comes out, and if funds available, a bigger widescreen monitor. Also, I know it's expensive right now, but at some point get that 2nd 1GB of DDR3. It will definitely help things run smoother. Anyway, thats just what I would do.

I'm not sure what MB would be good for the P4 (maybe 965 chipset), if you really have your heart set on using it, so someone else will have to chime in on that one. Good luck, whatever you decide.

As far as motherboard goes for that proc, like Hawk said, use anything 965 or G33 based, or if you feel the need, P35.

For some reason an 8600GTS comes to mind, but if your willing to spend a little bit extra go an 8800GT or HD2900Pro.

Your ram may be holding you back but for some stuff you have enough.

Gotta say thanx for the info.
Looks like I'll be getting another vid card and upgrade the monitor too.
I didn't think the E6600 would be better than the P4 after I OC the P4 but since I'm still new at this I'll look around for the upgrades and take your advice.
I think I'll be looking for another 2Gb of ddr3 though, when I got this 1Gb stick it was threesomething and now it's threesomething for 2Gb so it has come down quite a bit in a short time.
Thanx again
