I'm planning to buy one.

Also, when it does come out, is it just the mobo or does it come with a 'set-up?' Some people I've asked say it does.

It will be sold in very limited numbers. Not sure where and when though. No clue if you can buy a bare mobo either.

It could be out in Intel's major product batch launch somewhere in Q2 2008. Like Dan said, very limited in numbers, half of them could go to the OEM.....Voodoo, Alienware, etc. who'll use them to make filthy big ass $10k rigs. If you want one, keep at least $600 handy, just in case.

Well, from the workstation segment you already have alternatives for Skulltrail. Skulltrail is not a one of its kind board. It's just a dual-LGA 775 board that can do Crossfire X. You already have had the ASUS board running nForce 680a to take in a Athlon64 FX Socket 1207 and do Quad-SLI, something that never took off. And of course those SuperMicro, TYAN boards, some of which are based on the nForce Professional chipset and can do SLI.

Dual 771, not 775. Besides the current 5000/5100/5400 series don't officially support SLI. (there are some Dell's that do it with Quaddros though) On the Intel side there isn't an official alternative yet.
