I'ved played all 3 tracks with 12 opponents (dirft is more a single player mode) at 40+ FPS:
-4xAA
-1920x1200 (set by the game, not me)
and it runs smooth as butter. For those wondering if this is like dirt, the answer is hell no! They really got it right this time. How it handles with the 360's game pad, and overall look of the game is much better then DiRT. If you had 12 opponents in dirt I would not get 40+ FPS so it's clear they fixed the EGO engine.
Visuals
Smoke: One thing that impressed me was the smoke in this game. Watching the smoke in DX9 is amazing. It is not the clunky, edgy puff of white that I'm use to seeing.
Blur: This game offers more blurr then DiRT. Some will like it some will not. I hope they offer an option to adjust this feature.
Shadows: Unfortunately, shadows haven't improved much. If you played DiRT the aliasing look of those shadows have returned (in some places, not all). But IMO it doesn't take away from the game. I only found it most inside the car.
Handling
The car handles better then most other motorsports games I've played on the PC and 360. For example, if you over shoot a turn and find yourself in the dirt; you do not find yourself doing 180s and 360s to get out. The use of the handbrake to slide into corners is much better in this game then it was in DiRT. Overall, using the 360 game pad is much easier for me with this game then with DiRT (or other games for that matter). I found playing the game from the "driver's seat" much easier to do then in DiRT (or most other motorsport games).
Controls:
I found that the Xbox360 game pad works well with this game. The Option menu for controls already has predefined settings for the xbox360 game pad and I have not had a need to make changes. I do not have a PC "wheel" so I cannot comment on how well that works. One thing I do like is that if you forget to turn your xbox360 game pad on before you start the game you no longer have to exit the game in order to use it. This was a common problem I found in DiRT.
Presentation
It's new but not very impressive. However it's far better then Dirt. The menu system is simplified without having to go into whole lot of sub menus in order to make changes.
Graphics
What can I say? This game's graphics are better then any other motorsport game on the PC.
Streaming Adverts
Does this game stream adverts? Hard to say right now, however I did find some advertisements which adds to the look of the game. But are they streaming new ads every now and again like DiRT? I am not sure right now but will keep my eye if new adverts pop up.
I suggest everyone take the time and try this game. Formulate your own opinion...
