    Overclocking a Q9650

I'm at 3.6 @ 1.3v now and she's running stable. I'll check temps. edit. Max temp is 59 under load.

    Overclocking a Q9650

I have a Gigabyte motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel ... What's the best way of checking temperature?

    Overclocking a Q9650

Haven't tried overclocking it yet. With my E6300 Wolfdale, I was able to get to 3.9 GHz with a stock HSF.

    Overclocking a Q9650

    What's a reasonable overclock with a stock heat sink/fan?

Performance difference between Stock and aftermarket cooler

How much of a benefit will I see overclocking my Q9650 with an aftermarket cooler? With my E6300 Wolfdale, I was able to get to 3.9 GHz with the stock cooler.

Changed CPU and now I can't boot up

Thanks. I was able to get a RMA so it's good.

Changed CPU and now I can't boot up

I tried it in another system and no go. Dead chip.

What the best heat sink/fan for a Q9650?

The push pin system is terrible. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and take my mobo out.

What the best heat sink/fan for a Q9650?

Are there any good coolers that don't require me to remove my motherboard?

What the best heat sink/fan for a Q9650?

I would like to spend nothing, but that's probably not realistic. I'm not looking for anything exotic, just good air cooling for overclocking. There are no restrictions I'm aware of because of the mobo (Gigabyte P45) or the case (Antec 900).

    Any recommendations?

Changed CPU and now I can't boot up

The person I bought it from said he tested the Q9650 just before he sent it and it worked okay. I want to try one more time before I give up. Say I'm starting from scratch with my original set up, and I have my new chip in hand. What should I do in sequence?

Changed CPU and now I can't boot up

Yeah, it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do. Hopefully if it's a bad chip I can get a RMA. Is there anyway I could have fried it? I was overclocking my E6300 and had the voltage at around 1.38. I didn't reset the BIOS before installing the the Q9650. Could that be an issue?

Changed CPU and now I can't boot up

The old CPU (E6300) is working fine. I cleaned the contacts on the new CPU and the fan on the heat sink spun up briefly for about 5 seconds and then it shut down. That's the closest I've come.
