i have a rev 3.1 gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h, and it does not have uefi, even though it has an AM3b socket. it's also only a 4+1 phase power design, and all of these are at least 4+2. hmm...

main problem is that AMD GPU clock tool does not auto adjust between low power and high power, nor does it switch properly for DXVA. so basically, the video card runs at max power at all times. i also don't know how well it plays with switchable graphics. would switching between intel integrated...

sooo... nobody knows? i guess it's understandable, considering that it's a laptop. failing that, is there a way to enable catalyst overdrive for laptops? maybe a registry tweak?

does anyone know how to go about this? strangely enough, my laptop detects the card as a HD5600/5700 series (it IS a renamed and slightly overclocked HD5650m, after all), and GPU-Z simply cannot save the BIOS at all. winflash does not even start.

so i just reseated the HSF again, and temperatures have dropped back to acceptable levels. apparently, the secret is to just use quite a bit more thermal paste than what i'm used to. anyway, thanks everyone for your help.

the original was basically overflowing. this is actually my second attempt. the first time, i used the credit card method and spread a very thin and even layer over the GPU, which resulted in VERY high temperatures. so i took it apart again and applied another drop, which decreased temperatures...

mine just says "exact location unknown" for all three. anyway, if i didn't put the HSF on properly, wouldn't that just cause a global rise in temperature, instead of the one up and two downs? the card's been running for about a day now, so it SHOULD be set already.

sooo... why would reseating and reapplying thermal paste increase GPU core temp, but cause the shaders (which are part of the core) to drop? this doesn't make any sense.

hi there, i've recently reapplied thermal paste on my MSI HD 5850 (reference board), and i've noticed an increase in GPU temperature #1 (about 6C) and a sharp drop in temperatures #2 and #3. my question is, what are they exactly? as in, what's #1, #2, and #3 actually measuring?

i have tried. that results in a black screen on both the laptop display and the HDTV. there's nothing wrong with the HDTV nor the HDMI cable, since the same setup worked perfectly with my girlfriend's laptop.
