    HD 4850 or 9800GTX

Depends on the resolutions you want to be running at. I usually run at 1600x1200 or over so I'd get the 4850. Also you could put the money somewhere else. (ram - psu) The 8800GT is pretty good still.

Looks like I finally have a reason to throw out my CRT monitor.

    Computex 2008: Thermaltake

I like it, sleek but not over the top like some of their products. Thermaltake often had excessively riced designs.

I'd go with the 750W Corsair also.

Yes if the 320s have the larger single platter, not all do. Some 1TB drives (Samsung F1 1TB and soon the WD 1TB drives will also). All 640s use the larger platter. I'd go with one of these, depending on your size requirements: WD Caviar se16 640GB Samsung F1 1TB

Critique my new (proposed) system! (high end)

Agreed, moving full size towers is a pain. I'd get a laptop or at least a matx case.

Critique my new (proposed) system! (high end)

All 750GB drives are slower than 640GB drives because the 640s have larger platter density (~320GB per disk versus 250GB per disk). The extra 16MB of cache makes almost no difference in performance. Thus a 320GB single platter Seagate will be faster than a 750GB 3 platter drive. If the 640s are...

how much is HIS x1950 pro 512mb agp card worth today?

You might get $100 give or take on ebay. It's matched well with your system... I don't see a point in upgrading it unless you upgrade the entire system.

4 Pin CPU PSU Cable in 8 Pin Mobo?

I've never had any problems with Seasonic, Silverstone, or Corsair power supplies.

Western Digital Quietly Moves to 334GB HDD Platters on 1TB Caviar GP Drive

I'm guessing SSD drives will prevent that from happening.
