I purchased a new ATI 3850 for my friend and he had the same GPU recovery problem while in games. We took it back to the dealer and exchanged another one (same brand and model), and this one is working perfectly.

I had 3 Litons. They all last slightly more than a year. Since then, I switched to Pioneer and never had problem with it.

Problem solved. The CAT 8.8 driver on 32bit Vista was blocking the 1.2V Bios mod. Downgrade back to CAT 8.7 and it's working perfectly.
