Im looking at buying some new Thermal Compound for my V8 when i get my new board whats rated the best?

I've been very happy with OCZ FreeZe, it keeps things a degree or two than AS5 and several degrees cooler than cheap generic stuff

I like Ceramique as it's non-conductive and I'm not the neatest when it comes to gooping. lol

MX-2, or any of the others mentioned, there is littole difference in them temp wise, though expect a drop from old/generic thermal paste :toast:

MX2 is my choice, mostly because i havent tried freeze or MX3 yet.

MX2 lasts longer than ceramique or AS5 before drying up in my testing (which goes over periods of months/years)

+1 for OCZ Freeze. However has anyone ever tried "Ultra" thermal gel? I have some at home but I've never used it.

You need to be careful to use this stuff.
If your heatsink happens to have Aluminium base, this stuff will destroy that.
I believe they released a thermal pad that fixes this problem.

+1 for "Ultra" thermal gel I use it and it works great. Although if it sits for a long period of time in the bottle is does clump on the brush. I just open it about every couple of months and mix it up alittle. It has been keeping My core i7 OC to 4.2GHZ @ a cool 45C under load with my current waterloop. :toast:

ive got Antec Forumula 5 on my tuniq tower with my 965BE overclocked to 4ghz and it idles at 33deg cel. From what i herd its made by the same people that make AS5

I found the stuff that came with my V8 worked very well. Not the stuff in the white tube, the Thermal Fusion 400.

Though it has got the best reviews, u have to be extremely careful and follow manf. instructions on how to apply it. Its metal and is conductive. One small piece fell on the mobo and when I booted it...The damn thing shorted the board. Lucky my board was still under warranty

Only if you can apply it properly, it kind of sticky, doesn't wanna stay on the surface....MX-2 on the other hand applies very good...
