its seems shader intense games which are newer the x1900xt are faster but in other games the 7900gtx gto etc are faster i believe its because of the x1900xt have 40 + pixel shaders

I wont argue with that as long as you exclude Oblivion, the 7900GTX is marginally faster than the 1900XTX at most (but not all) resolutions.

PS sorry I'm following you!

I see you took my advice and lowered the MVDDQ! Nice score.

Hello,
I have used ATI Tool 0.25 Beta 14 and have used these settings on 4 x1900xtx's for about 5 months total with no problem. This is a mild oc which is good for gaming like BF2. Most test were done using BF2, CS:S, Company of Heroes, Day of Defeat Source, 3dMark 05/06.

3dMark06 7122
3dMark05 13,522

CS:S in smoke filled room in Office 175 FPS

COH Average at 60.4 FPS (w/o overclocking)

CS:S 230.6

HS2: Lost Coast Stress Test 131.35

These is only intended to give you an idea.
E67 OC to 2.93 (at that time).
2 Gigs of Corsair PC6400 ram
x1900xtx

GPU: 733.50
Mem: 850.00
VGPU: 1.5000V
MVDDC: 2.108V
MVDDQ: 2.108V
VDDCI: 1.503V

It appears that MVDDC/MVDDQ doesn't require a lot of voltage and you do have to bump up the VDDCI ever so slightly. I also note that it's best to let ATI TOOL pick the best GPU and Mem settings by using the up and down arrows (when you click on the Core or Mem scale). I will wager to say that if for some reason ATI TOOL .25B14 doesn't create a 733.50 when you use the up arrow key this may not work for you (for exampe it scales to 732.50 or 733.00 instead of 733.50 use 733 instead, but no guarantee it will work)

Please also note that I use water cooling on the GPU and thermal pads on the Mem.

Using Beta 14, do you disable both hotkey and smart? Or just hotkey?

Hi all...
a very big question from a new 1900XT user...

WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD TO OVERLOCK THE CARD WITHOUT ISSUES ???

I dont want the step by step for ATT or AtiTool, I read a lot about how to use them BUT I would like to know which is the method to follow NOT to have problems of incorrect settings due to bugs or conflicts between the drivers and the different utilities...

I tried Overdrive from CCC without problems but it's limited in frequencies...then I read about Ati Tray Tool and Ati Tool, I read about problems detecting 3d apps when videos are there, I read about problems with disabling or not the services....

If someone will be so kind to tell me how to manage this...I do not care about disabling or not the services, I do not care about creating different profiles for 2d and 3d, I don't even care if I have to manually switch between profiles...I just want to be sure about the settings...if I put say 800mhz on the GPU core for 3d it has to stay there until I
switch to 2d...if this is not possible, I don't care to change it back to a 2d profile manually...

I read a lot in this 2 last days but the more I read the more I'm confused...

hope someone will be able to help me....

a BIG THANK YOU

Roberto - Italy

Great thread guys...I just got a Sapphire X1900XT 256mb about a week ago and this topic helped me so much. Using ATI tools and Omega drivers I was able to get my card running at 650/800. This is how I did it and please let me know if I should change anything in my voltage settings. I just used something close to what I saw posted here and so far so good.

Voltages
VGPU = 1.45v
MVDDC = 2.25v
MVDDQ = 2.102v
VDDCI = 1.5v

I also tweaked the fan settings a little using 45% as default and starting at 60c I go up 10% for every 10c. Using the ATI Tools Artifact scanner the highest temp I got was 84c on the GPU and after playing Oblivion for a hour and logging my temps the highest temp I saw was 76c. Please let me know what you think. Thanks

After a day I started having problems during benckmarking(3DMark05,06), with random rebooting. I put the GPU & Memory @ stock speeds and reinstalled my drivers and have had no problems since. Any help would be appreciated. I would at least like to overclock the memory. I never had any artifacts and I'm assuming it is 1.2ns and not 1.1ns ram. I just had the rebooting issue and I did try setting GPU to stock and just overclocking the memory and still had reboots.

Well you have to turn of vpu recover and i think some ati services but overclocking these cards is by no means easy. You have to test which program is best suted for your card and if that wasnt enough you have to check different versions of tools like ati tool to see which is stable enough for you. You can tweak latency for memory on a card you can add voltage adjustments like you did and the most important is to check temperatures of your card and see if its overheating or close to that. So rebooting in your case could be connected to one or more of these simptoms. Well my card goes to 84 now when they started heating the flat so your temps must be ok.

OK I have cat 6.10 running on my computer with a x1900xtx with no problems in BF2 so far. I do not have wdm drivers installed for the moment because they are name something different then what Cat 6.3 calls them. I believe they are not being recognized properly but not sure. I am using ATI Tool to overclock my video card with no problems in games so far. I have AI set to standard.

Has anyone made a modified bios for the X1900XT 256mb card or can I use the bios from a 500mb X1900XT/XTX. I want to try OCing with bios and not with ati tool or att.

you should be careful with modding you bios... i just used ATT to overclock my 1900gt... i had not problems for about 2weeks now. there are instability issues i encountered using ati tool, especially with the find max core...

Well I am using ATT right now to overclock ,but I did change the fan settings in the bios so I wouldn't have to mess with that everytime I changed drivers. I'm going to flash my clock speeds once I find out the highest stable settings. I've been running 655/756 stable for a few days and in a week or so I'm going to up it by 1 tick. I think I was too aggressive when I first got the card. I still would like to know if anyone has flashed the X1900XT 256mb with a XTX bios. I looked at a XTX bios using rabit and I saw only 1 difference in the memory timing and I could change that, but I don't want to be the first to try:).

If u have another VGA card that works, then I think its not that big deal. And report please;) But anyway, it works just fine with this pre8. No problems at all. For now:D

Maybe this is not a good idea, but I'll try ;)
The memory of my card easy overclock to 850Mhz (1700Mhz) !
About "4 laser removed pipes" - Are you sure ?

EDIT:
Even nothing happen to my card and pipeline stay 12.
I'll gain frequency to 1900XT.
I cant edit in rabbit my current bios, because rabbit is software(driver) dependent - it's sh-it :(.
If edit bios with rabit (edit voltage and mem/core speed) with Catalyst 6.11exemplarily - no other driver can discern correctly the video card witch edited whit it.

Hmm... that doesn't sound right....I changed my fan setting with rabit and I've changed drivers at least 3 times since. Save the BIOS with rabit then edit it ,then flash it with edited BIOS. Also Don't use the ATI winflash util. Make a bootup disk and flash it in dos mode.
