Which powersupply seems better?

I am looking at 2 powers supplies. From what I read, both are quiet. Both are modular.

Thermal Take 700W

Except I am not familiar with HEC.

How loud is 23dba? I hope it's not as loud as my current one, because the one I have outnoises everything in the computer.

My budget is $100 but I may go $10 higher. Also, anything greater than 500w is great, just need enough for crossfire. Can someone help me choose?

I dunno man, that HEC is a quad rail psu with low 20's amps per rail.

If possible find a strong single rail setup like PVT mentioned. The Corsair PSU lineup is just amazing, that 750WTX was my first real PSU. Never gonna sell my 1000W HX

You might give the CM Silent Pro a look too. JonnyGuru and Hardware Secrets both gave it good reviews. Compared to the Corsair, which is also a good unit, you get flat modular cables and don't have to mess around with a rebate. I've had one for for three months now and love it.

Well corsair reaches zomgl33tWTFbbq on some models, seems to depend on oem for that specific model since they have like 3-4 oems. Thermaltake varies wildly from crap to upper midrange depending on the model.

Just use the psu watage calculator and go with the less expensive one you need. In exemple I am using that 2008 model CoolerMaster eXtreme power 500W which is lower real wattage but who cares im using a total of 275W maximum under full load in my system. 300w if i overclock my cpu. My tought ...buy a cheap 2 rails psu with the 80mm fans on front and find a scrap psu with 120mm fan on top switch the internal and you get a psu for less than 100$ with a black case and a 120mm fan.

i hope your joking. cooler master PSU are such garbage. seriously though cheaping out on a psu is the worst thing you can do with a computer. the psu is the component where you want the best you can or you will run into problems in the future
NEVER AND I MEANT IT NEVER CHEAP OUT ON A PSU!!!

wattage isnt the only think you want to look for in a psu. you want to look at amps on the 12v rail, voltage ripple and the voltage regulation as well as efficiency. Read up on reviews will give you a better understanding.

one tip: dont buy a psu that rated at 600w and under the 12v rail it only does like 400. thats terrible

i am using it always just changed the fan and still doing the job but i never said to buy it but buy one you like within specs and change the case thats all. I have 3 psu here The one in my computer as stated in my specs under my avatar and modded the wiring, a cheap brand called TigerPlus 360w that is still enough to use my system and a L&C psu 450W that i modded also.
Next time im going to get one i will take time modding it to make it modular and post picture on the forum.
