Lots of big cities of course, but even then it's not very developed (I was quite shocked when I was in the Detroit suburbs actually, not a single bus to be seen). As gas prices go up and oil gets rarer and more expensive it's quite stupid that each and every person has to have a car, and travel alone in it. It's the same problem here, but in most areas public transport is an option, and it does get better and better. Lots of people don't like it (me included) but €140 worth of gas (give it a few years and this will probably rise to €200) or €40 for bus tickets (my parents two way)? It should be a no brainer.

work from home... small town so i walk most places. day to day life there is no contest - but it's not like my computer can get me home to see family, etc so in reality both are necessary.

Yea I usta live close to you up in Watertown *Small community* and our apartments were in the middle of town so travel was not an issue.

Both are equally important I'd say.

I need a car to get places, take my kids places, go out on the town and so on. In the US, especially outside of a major metropolitan area, a car is a MUST. Otherwise it takes forever to get anywhere using public transportation.

As for a computer, well, I use it to make money, keep in contact with people, news, etc.etc. So a computer is a must have also, for me at least.

The poll is just which is more important in your life, not whats supplied by who or home comp vs work comp. You need the car to get to the computer, you need the computer to make the money to buy the car. Just a loop.

Depends on what Modifications you mean to a Vehicle:

Is it Engine Or is It Cosmetic

If You use your Car for A-B/ Daily Driver: aka Work, groceries, school, or Transport of Friends or even a Girlfriend I would leave it alone as you want reliability over performance- performance tends to lead to more maintenance and costs overall when they do break- and Yes anything built for performance will break more often than reliability.

If You go Cosmetic Route- Never Cut the existing wires in the vehicle whether it's new headlights/ tailights or general lighting. or even stereo as you can cause issues with the electrical system thus preventing vehicle from starting right, battery drains/alternator burns up, power windows, power locks, security system works intermittently.

Only time id change a stereo in a vehicle is when the factory unit doesnt work right or is completely failing- but i would never cut into existing wires- either id use adapters or run my own wires.

What Im saying above is if it is working properly within factory specification dont fix it or try to modify/tune/tweak it.

Cars are a representation of Freedom- They Allow You to get to work and support yourself even a girlfriend, heck even just having a car would allow you to entertain friends and women as of transport to fun even travel even if that fun is free. Those who really dont have a means of transport as of a car or motorcycle normally have trouble keeping a Woman Around or it takes longer for them to get where they need to go because public transport although faster than foot tends to take time because of route schedules.

In All Honesty Modding a car and a computer cost money- Id suggest just saving money

Smart move would be to Get another Car and Make it into a Toy/Weekend driver- aka rarely used or to entertain people/women on days off

^yep, i own an rx8, and it is now my weekend car, i modded myself...then i got a 94 tercel as my daily driver, saves me gas, and i dont have to worry about putting miles on my rx8. all the money i save on gas and not modding allows me to save up and put that money towards other things.

Ya, Definitely Keep the Tercel as Factory as Possible

RX 8 You can up the performance in engine, trans, suspension, handling, brakes incrementally

just remember the bigger wheels and low profile tires are not really meant for daily road conditions, they requires more power to turn, bigger brakes to stop, and plus cause handling differences you may not like, tires are more prone to air loss from bumps and other debris found on the road.
