Don't AMD processors fare better because of their extra cores in current gen gaming? If one or 2 cores are required then is it possible to lock down the extra?

One more thing. If I buy the Pentium system now, can't I just upgrade to an i5 4460 or an i5 2500 for cheaper than if I were to buy the build you set up right now for me in pc parts picker? Thanks! :)

I found comparisions where the G3220 pentium outperformed some of AMD's quad cores. Intels are more efficient per clock-cycle... at this point, it seems getting the work done faster counts better than having more threads.

You can upgrade to an i5 4xxx or i7 4xxx series 1150 cpu that is compatible with your chipset. Not to the i5 2xxx series, you need to make sure it's an LGA 1150 CPU that is compatible with the mainboard's chipset. But ya you totally could, then you have a cheap spare processor you could sell or save as a backup, or use in a different PC. You might be content and not want to get a quad core for some time and end up going with a different build.

From my experience with the Pentium Dual Core haswells, they are very solid performers, and surprisingly good dual cores for gaming. A 3258 will do quite well after OC-ing but even a stock 3.0Ghz 3220 will do very good, and has in my experience. As I said before, get the best vid card you can...GTX760 prices should be dropping too with the 970 and 980 just getting released.

Thanks. I really appreciate it. Looks like I might just go with the current system. I'll probably upgrade later on to an i5. When do you think the 970 and 980 are going to be released?

They were just released yesterday or today...there are several reviews just released here on Techpowerup you should check out. Amazing performance and power savings compared to current-gen stuff, and impressive prices compared to last gen releases.
