Hey folks,
I fear that my 2007 500GB Iomega External Hard drive is finally cooked but I'm hoping that there is something I can do to revive it enough to get all the info from it.
Here are the symptoms:
One day it just wasn't recognized by Windows 8.1 at all.
Not in "Disk Management"
Not in Bios
Definitely not in "My Computer"
Here is what I tried:
Opened the enclosure, checked connections, all good.
Disconnected HD from enclosure and reconnected.
Froze the entire unit in a bag with a TBSP of Rice to soak up moisture for 3 days
Let thaw for one hour.
After all this, it is still not recognized at all... It's as if the drive spools up and makes the clicking noises but nothing happens in windows or anywhere for that matter.
Anyone have any ideas as to what else I can do other than "Throw it out. It's done, you lost everything. Accept it"
Cheers and thanks
