Hi I have a Logitech G11 Keyboard and mouse, the letters on the keys are getting pretty worn and now the backlight has failed so I think it needs replacing the mouse seems okay, any ideas as there are so many out there now but it has to be backlit, the only problem I had with the Logitech the backlighting was rather faint.

Judging from @FreedomEclipse I don't think Corsair keyboards are a wise choice. A lot of dead LED's very early in life.

Id only go for corsair's RGB line of keyboards at the moment. Every other brand/manufacturer that uses the standard LED+Mechanical switch design with their keyboards is honestly not worth investing in due to the issue with static electricity killing the LEDs.

If you want a non-LED mech keyboard then anything will be fine but for LEDs its best to stick to Corsair's RGB as they have found a way to isolate the LEDs and prevent them from being killed by static shock

Hi thanks for the advice this will take some time I go for looks as well, the corsair look good and sturdy but I quite like the Razer keyboards and the price I was looking at was between £60-£90. I don't use it just for gaming so the keyboard doesn't need to be 100% gaming.

I think it's some thing t o do with the LED them self's as my Razor Blackwidow leds work perfectly ( some keys failed on it ), in fact been thinking about using the leds out of that and putting them in to the MK Pro that ROCCAT let me keep during rma. Replacement still working 100% still.

I would stay away from Razer - There are people on these forums who have had less than stellar experiences with both their products and customer support though your mileage may vary. I have never owned or used any of their products though. I was always a logitech guy but they didnt do mechanical keyboards until just recently.

I dunno man, I sold Corsair K95 to Rcoon which i had for a year, never had any dead LEDs and still doesnt, When i switched up to a K70, I went though 2 of them (3 if you count the replacement i got for the second one from RMA that i sold off straight away) and 2 duckyshine III keyboards - Im currently still using a duckyshine III and about 30-60-70% of the LEDs are dead lol - the right arrow key just died as im typing this

There is some serious Issues when it comes to Mech Keyboards with LED lighting

Well my BW is a few years old now so hopefully all good lol. Maybe it was made better against this and putting them in the spare MK Pro would just make they fail due to design fault.

Still hoping they fixed the issue with my other MK Pro been a few weeks now :p ( scans across keyboard nope not yet lol )

I dunno - maybe its the same LEDs but just the way the keyboard discharges static electricity. I honestly thought my Ducky Shine III would be the end all, be all of mech keyboards as they are so highly highly rated and spoken of but it still succomed the same issues as my corsair K70s.

I would rather just avoid the design all together. Corsair has already stated that, their new key design should completely fix the static discharge problem so fingers crossed it actually works rather than them saying it does to boost sales as everyone in their forums who had a K70 and even some K95 users (but mainly K70 users) were complaining about dead LEDs and RMA'ing left right and center.

Corsair probably has enough keyboards with dead LEDs from RMAs to run parallel from one side of the great wall of china to the next.

Hats off to our corsair rep here though who honestly did everything in his power to help me and put up with me raging when the second replacement he sent me developed dead LEDs

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
if around where you live you have a retailer who do promo on the G19: go for it... (i just did the switch from a Gigabyte Aivia K8100V2) they go for half the launch price actually and even lower sometime got mine for around 90$, and it's also a good and sturdy one albeit non mechanical (the G19s is still too expensive at my taste and the blue color switch over the grey they did with the s version is f'ugly imho)

as long as you stay FAR away from Razer : you're fine ...i had a Lycosa and a Black Widow Ultimate, they where the most expensive pile of cr*pe i ever bought and didn't lasted long before failing (pretty much as all Razer product i bought be it mices or keyboard) i call them "youth error" Razer is overhyped and not worth any attention since quite a while now, as many other manufacturer offer better quality for a lower price or a same price for a better quality (which is in both case a win win situation)

Corsair quite improved, in my brand list they join Logitech, Roccat and Gigabyte (dunno why but i loved the Aivia K8100V2 and the Aivia Uranium mouse, even if i still prefer my G602/G19 combo over them)

got this Roccat MK pro - per key ilumi Keyboard a few months ago.
I can not Fault it.

now the razer lycosa i replaced that cost me £80 was total rubbish, a cheap nasty k/b for £80. (Very Flexible n light and marks easy)

paid 150 for the mk pro and i would buy another.. very sturdy heavy k/b does not smudge

i would say this is the best k/b i have ever used..

never used a corsair k/b but the psu i had blew in 4 days, i will only use there Ram now, even the fan on corsair ram failed in weeks and the fan in psu was'nt so clever. But the ram is solid..

do like the logitech g700 mouse though. i replaced a shitty Razor death adder mouse, the memory failed in the mouse after 3 months , seen a lot of this online with razers.

anyhow rant over..

pick a good one pal..

I dunno what happened with that PSU, but depending on what unit it is you had, a lot of their stuff is made by Seasonic who know what they're doing when it comes to PSUs, Im not saying if you caused a short or intentionally overloaded the PSUs but ive never heard of a corsair doing that unless it was completely overloaded.

think the corsair was 18A a rail..

another thing, fan was sounding ill when running slow.
it did put me off corsair but for there cool ram..

I'm pulling my own quotes from another forum to eliminate retyping:

These refer to the Logitech G910 keyboard and the G13 G-key extender.

I totally have to second this recommendation. I just got one of these also and it is sick, just sick. Heavy, robust, gorgeous. The backlighting is otherworldly, and you can set up all the zones you want, down to the individual key. I have my letters and numbers set to off white, but I decided to make the F & J their own zone (red) so they stand out for touch type position. The Romer switches feel lovely and surefooted. I also decided to supplement this with the G13 gaming keypad which contains 22 G-keys to set up macros. I am a macro freak and love G-keys. Big time saver, especially for setting up the G-keys for passwords. One other really cool extra is the volume control wheel on the Orion. It allows you to control your volume very easily and accurately. Nice mute button right beside the wheel for when the phone rings. The bold character font they used for the caps is great, and their boldness adds to the beauty provided by the backlights.

The Romers are smooth and deft, not clicky, so if you are a Cherry switch click freak, you may not like the action. But I love it. I had high hopes for a $180 keyboard, but when I got through with setting up my color schemes and got down to typing up some overdue reports, I was sold! This keyboard exceeded my high expectations. It's also a super fast keyboard if you are a touch-type speed demon.

I've been using it for about 6 hours and I don't want to go to bed! Very svelte profile also, not too big.

I love cool kit, and this thing is a work of art.
So it's a day later and I am getting used to the combination of the Logitech G910 Orion and the G13 G-key expansion unit. Just stupendous. The Logitech software operates all the peripherals with the same interface. So your Orion and your G13 and your Logitech gaming mouse all just appear in the interface and are customizable using this one program which graphically represents each of them and makes configuration a snap. And the configuration is deep and detailed. One thing the Orion removes is the LCD screen. I used that a lot and was anticipating missing it. That function can now go to your I-phone, however that's kludgy. But! The G13 contains a slightly larger version of the LCD screen previously found on the G510. And best of all, it recognizes the Orion and when you press the macro recording key on the Orion, the G13 seamlessly displays the instructions and notifications previously contained on the integrated LCD. Too cool! If you like macro keys, this could not be any better. You've got 9 on the Orion and 22 more on the G13. Plus each has 3 "modes". So M1 can contain 31 macros, and M2 and M3 add 62 more. That's 96 macros! And, that's all in 1 profile. You can save as many custom profiles as you want. So that's, like, infinite macro keys. I can set up a very deep suite of video editing macro keys for use when I am running Avid Media Composer or Adobe Premiere Pro. Or when I am running Adobe Muse or Dreamweaver, I can have a macro set for web design. Or if I'm playing some guitar and recording into Pro Tools I can set up a suite of music recording macros. Amazing!

Mad props to Logitech for offering these solutions. These are gaming keyboards, and I am getting tremendous pleasure and productivity using them for conventional applications. I haven't even touched their capabilities in a gaming scenario, and that's what they are designed for!

Oh, and I love these Romer key switches. Very comfortable to touch type with.

Hi I like the Roccat MK pro and it looks good the Logitech G910 Orion is out of this world for price as well, I also like the Logitech G19s but would I use half the stuff on them it is really just a good backlit keyboard that looks good and feels good to the touch , I don't play online but I don't like cheap feeling keyboards, this is going to be a harder decision than I thought.

You guys will probably laugh at me but what about the M$ Sidewinder. There are 3 levels to the amount of backlighting and I'm very happy with the response of the keys. The only issue I had was it was backlit with red but changed the LED's to blue.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
Ryos MK if you like mechanical they are golden, the ISKU FX is a nice one on membrane but i still like the K8100V2 (multi pressure membrane) or the G19 as membranes keyboards

so i would say Ryos MK (that's what i would have taken if i didn't jumped on the G19 deal of my retailer )

edit also funny
the Logitech G910 Orion is out of this world for price as well.
a G910 is cheaper by 10chf from a Ryos MK Pro where i am XD and 10chf more than a G19s (60chf less than G19 launchprice tho :D )

owwww now you make me want to buy a G910 and use my LG G2 with the dock and app ... ahahah ... (as it suppress the only cons i find in the G19: non mechanical xD)

My Saitek Cyborg V7 has been superb for about 7 years now ! Love the programmable macro keys on the side, can use 1 for Squad coms, platoon coms, and another for proxy chat in PS2, so many useful variations.
It's just now starting to give some issue with the "A" and "M" key, but not worth enough to buy another yet. The ton's of color programing for the back lighting is really cool feature also

to be honest when it gets down to the nitty gritty the only thing that really worries me is I have never used a mechanical keyboard and if I spend all that money on one will I get used to it or even like it. do I take the plunge.

take time to try and feel, at your retailer if you have the occasion to do so (keyboard and mouse are the only thing i will never order online... )

There is nothing to be afraid of. The G910 is utterly smooth and the keys caps have a comfy indentation format that you will love. Worst case: Buy it and use it for a week. If for some reason you don't like it, sell it on E-bay and you will get most of your money back. Just unpack with great care so the packaging remains pristine.

You won't be selling it however. The action is wonderful and I defy you to hate it. The backlighting and control app just add that much more to the goodness.
