Also, I don't think these settings apply to Online at all. It's just absolutely shitty design.

Yep, it's like watching a Mustang drive by every five seconds in Phoenix. It just never ends.

Furthering that, every car looks like it's been custom valet detailed by forty people - not one speck of dirt, not one damaged fender, not one scratched door panel. It's nothing but show room quality vehicles.

It doesn't draw me in at all, very bad system that breaks immersion.

The setting: "Population Variety"

"Population Variety is unique in that has no effect on performance, but can affect visual fidelity quite considerably. The simplest explanation of its function is this: if there are 100 vehicles in the game files, and 50 civilians, 50% Population Variety will load 50 vehicles and 25 civilians into your video card's memory (VRAM), and randomly place them in the world. With 100% Population Density this would result in multiple copies of each vehicle and civilian appearing in each scene, reducing immersion once you notice the numerous clones. By increasing Population Variety you reduce the chance of this occurring, and see a greater variety of vehicles on the roads.

Per general game design rules, each civilian and vehicle is built with a strict polygon count, ensuring the performance cost of rendering five different civilians or vehicles is the same as rendering one five times. Each model and set of textures also requires a certain amount of VRAM, and by raising Population Variety you're allowing Grand Theft Auto V to load more unique models and textures into memory.

Variety is therefore dictated by your GPU's VRAM, and performance is dictated by the Population Density you specified earlier. For players with 2GB of VRAM, it's likely that compromises between the various memory-consuming settings will have to be made, and in our opinion Population Variety is one of the settings that should be sacrificed for superior textures and shadows."

I'm going to stop playing until/IF they bother fixing and tweaking the game. The interface is killing me (some things are horribly awkward to use, some are half impossible to find because they are dug in completely illogical places, some features are completely missing), controls are atrocious (I repeatedly get stuck at shit, unable to move around a simple corner or around certain obstacles, I keep switching guns instead of zooming in because of the stupid wheel) and the car physics are completely ridiculous even for an arcade game to name a few of my favourites.
Basically, I can just uninstall it and forget it. I did get about half my money's worth though, even if I only played solo online and a little bit of the singleplayer. Great graphics, very immersive, loads of potential, but still a pile of steaming horse shit in the end I guess it's plagued by being a console port. This just doesn't work well.

I agree with most of these points, especially since not to much has actually changed coming from the console verison... I was actually expecting more single player features to be added by Rockstar... (Lol to me for thinking that)

If I enjoy anything out of this game... its the derp sessions I have when I just do completely random stuff for no reason..... etc: driving my bulldozer down the freeway on the wrong side of the road doing 100 mph.

Telekinesis mod is pretty entertaining.... Throw some tanks around if you wish or like 30 people at once.

If it werent for the mods I probably would not have even bought the game tbh.

This doesn't do jack shit. It's at 100% by default and there can still be up to five same vehicles at one small spot. No need to copypaste. We can read well enough.
And yes, it's inexcusably lousy design with PC and newest generation of consoles version.
P.S. I repeat: this doesn't do anything in Online.

Decided to play some GTA V today, noticed Steam was downloading/updating GTA V,
all done and Script Hook V + Native Trainer v1.0.350.2a does not work anymore....
Had to remove the trainer files before I could run the game.

I hope the guy at https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/script-hook-v will make a working trainer for this latest GTA V update soon.

As to the Population Variety .... they didn't design enough different vehicles to begin with. So the time they would have originally spent on expanding the car models, they instead spent on making a system(A.K.A. "population variety") to bandaid the issue of not having many vehicle models in the first place...

What a cluster fu** these development teams put themselves into.

The dew or rain effect fog is cool.

They need to incorporate Pandora into the radio stations, let us sign in and play our stations.

Also my helicopters keep disappearing in story mode, I manage to keep them about 50 % of the time by landing as close to the garage as I can.
