Hitting things to fix them only works if they are Made in Russia
Take the fan out. If it's ball bearing, just throw it away. If it's a sleeve bearing, they can be fixed. Just take off the sticker from the motor, in most cases there is a rubber cap underneath that keeps oil inside the rotor chamber. Drop 2-3 drops of car motor oil (you probably have it around), reseal it in reverse order of opening it and spin it by blowing at it while changing positions. This will re-lubricate the rotor. Plug it in, it may rattle for a bit and then it'll shut up. I've fixed countless sleeve bearing fans this way. Super easy maintenance done really cheap. And it just works. I haven't seen any fan that would be damaged beyond such repair. But if you'll keep it to rattle like this for too long, it'll wear out beyond repair point.
