Is there some test that i could run to ensure that my GPU is working properly?

Hello

Just got a 4070 12gb gigabyte windforce( had a gigabyte 3060 before) and it randomly crashes games ( most frequent in r6)

I did not ddu when installing a new driver ( just installed)

My gpu is new and 1 day old , is there something that i could do to see if it is really broken or if the crashes are due to software maybe?

I´m not having display driver crashes ( tbh no error in the event viewer , r6 just freezes then closes)

Maybe should i leave heaven unigine or superposition benchmark running overnight?

when one installs a new hardware
one must always uninstall older rtx3060 driver then take out the rtx 3060
then put in the new hardware (rtx 4070) and reinstall the latest driver...

if you dont do that windows might not register the new gpu properly and thus crashes occur...
second check your psu rtx 4070 uses more power than rtx3060, might possibly need an upgrade there

DDU the (old) drivers and reinstall the new ones. Driver issues are the most common software issue with GPUs.

If this don´t work , what tool do you recommend me do test the stability? I´m not doubting you about the ddu , but i´m just worried that there is a hardware error even though the gpu looks fine

I also don´t get display crashes as well

Go for 3-5 times for both, better safe than sorry. Won't hurt to check that temps are fine as well.

Gaming my temps are about 70 degrees( max gpu usage/power watts)

I´m also afraid to run furmark , do you think it is worth a go or not?

I haven't tested personally Furmark for over a decade as at least back then it was known as "power virus", totally unrealistic scenario. Your temps are fine at least.

Furmark won't give you meaningful data, because the scenario is unrealistic. You're just trying to heat up the GPU is what it actually does, well, you can use any real world app to do that too. Furmark will also not show the right boost clocks, those will be curbed by the driver. So it just puts voltage through the chip, really.

I would suggest beyond 3DMark runs, which are canned benchmarks, you should do a long gaming session with highly variable loads that stress the GPU sufficiently. This will bring system power into play more so than 3DMark which barely hits the CPU and GPU together. A game like Total War Warhammer 2/3 is perfect, being pretty graphically intensive, heavy on CPU, and with load spikes every time you either click next turn on the campaign map or land in battles. You'll get the GPU load going from top to bottom all the time with load on all system components.

If the gaming sessions fail but you suspect the GPU is fine, the combined load might trip your PSU; but a decent 650W on the 12V should be sufficient for a 4070/your system.

I´ve ran R6 for 3 hours fine , 30 min elden ring 4k max settings , rtx , control 30 min 4k max settings rtx 30 min as well

3 runs of each : firestrike , superposition , timespy

And 6 hours of heaven benchmark without any issue ( max gpu temp 72 degrees)

Unfortunately i don´t have warhammer to test but maybe i could try leaving the metro exodus benchmark running?

Do you guys think the gpu is fine or do i need more ? Thanks

Seems fine
Only issue with gpu's usually is they really need a better fan curve added so they cool better and limit the stop and start annoyances
I usually make 60c where fans are at 100% but then again I use water blocks mostly hehe

hey guys i´ve formatted the whole pc

I´ve left r6 running at 4k max settings for 6 hours and it did not crash (but i was not playing)

As soon as i started playing , it crashed while changing rounds ( i also dropped the game resolution to 1080p)

I did all benchmarks just fine , no crashes

Do you guys think it could be my gpu even after all benchmark passes?

Is there more tests that i could try?

the game froze the screen the close but windows was responsive at the background ( background apps and sound as well)

All previoulsly tabs kept open , no black screen , computer crash , or display driver crash

Left the game running in the firing range for 6 hours 4k max settings and it did not crash

Also ran heaven 1080p max settings for 6 hours looping , no crash at all

If its a single game crashing, the problem is the game and not the hardware. R6 is a Ubisoft game with frequent updates. Might just be a bug. Moreover, if the crash is consistent in when it happens, as you say, crashing between rounds... well, GG. Its definitely not the GPU.

No, you can definitely get maximum GPU stress out of a DX12 benchmark like TimeSpy.
You're also good on total system power/load apparently, seeing as you don't crash in high load scenarios specifically.

If you can get a replacement GPU, preferably Nvidia, too, (saves you clean driver installs) to try and reproduce the issue, that would be helpful. If another GPU gives you no issues, I would still be at a loss how its possible, but then I'd certainly exchange the GPU for another one, if its not too much trouble.

If you did a proper clean install of this GPU there's really no reason the game would crash like it does, but every config is different. Who knows what's amiss on your system... That's why testing more games can give you a more accurate assumption of what's wrong.

I'm not sure if you've been over this, but are your running you system at stock clocks/settings? If not, do that. You need to test that baseline. Perhaps you've got an unstable OC, or some software setting screws it up. Put differently: perhaps you need to troubleshoot not your GPU, but R6.
