can you post your system specs. if you can swing it this the Strider 500 would be my choice between the two.

i found the some error messages in the minidump log file everytime i get disconnected.
one message was about MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION. A fatal Machine Check Exception has occured.
DEFAULT_BUCKET_ID: DRIVER _FAULT. I have other logs as well. could it be caused by power supply???

im afraid if the reboots are due to faulty card. which is most likely to be? power issue or a faulty card? my 8800gs is brand new. I dont want to return back the card and wait for replacement. it takes too long. i hope its power issue. and I got a reboot once while i was in desktop.

I don't know, but I believe if you can get your hands on a 9600GSO BIOS, you should be able to flash it to your 8800GS.

I however just stepped up my eVGA 8800GS to a eVGA 9600GSO. I wanted the dual slot cooler.

9600gso is the same thing :p. i guess i solved my rebooting problem. it seemed that there was a power leak as the power cable wasnt connected to the motherboard properly. i also disconnected my 120mm case fan just in case to save the power. i never had reboots since then. I also got the chance to overclock my card to 1932mhz shader, 789mhz core and 1050mhz memory. i will keep on overclocking if i dont have an issue. so far i dont have any issue while playing crysis. the frame rate is smooth at very high settings on 1280*1200 resolution. that would be as smooth as a 8800gt with that speed :p. i tried company of heroes, i can play it on max settings at my max resolution which is 1600*1200 and still can get 40 to 50fps during the game. thats amazing :).
i prefer 8800GS over 9600gt or 8800gt anyday. just because 9600gt is 256 bit and has 512mb ram doesnt mean its faster than 8800gs. i never liked 9600gt. with the clocks that i reached i am sure it surpasses 9600gt and is very close to 8800gt. i guess i won the lottery of my life :p. i scored 11500 on 3dmark 06.

What brand is your 9600GSO? I wouldn't risk flashing a different brand BIOS, especially not one from Gainward as I believe they use custom PCBs and BIOSes. You are probably better off just overclocking your card via software, or modifying your own BIOS and flashing it to the card.
