patch 1.42 with 270.xx

hello I have motherboard asus sli gtx ma489gtd pro with 460 gainward gs, w7 64-bit I installed the patch 1.42 with nvidia 270.xx drivers, SLI is working perfectly, but now the blue screen and pc reboot the pc freeze said that the display driver has been recovered, there is still concern with patch 1.42 and the drivers 270, but I still thank the creator of this patch, you work on this problem?

I found out what's wrong. One of my SLI cards became unstable with these new drivers and was causing this flicker. I advise if you are getting flickering in your games and have your cards overclock lower the values a little and re-check. I had my cards at 900mhz and had to go to 850 to remove this flicker.

I spoke to soon... flickering came back after a reboot and even on stock clock GPU.

I had no choice but to try out the new 1.42 patch.. it turns out after going back to 1.0 patch and my earlier 260 drivers I still got flicker. It seems Nivida added something on these new 270s drivers that even after countless driver sweeps I couldn't get off.

I still get massive flicker in BFBC2 with 1.42 patch. :(

You get flicker only ingame?

BFBC2 has flicker in DX10 mode with all the the 270 drivers.
It's a known issue and should be fix in the next driver set.
In my case i just switch to DX11 and the problem is fixed.

So a little more info,

This setup has been working fine for quite awhile using slipatch 1.0 and the old drivers. I installed the new drivers and the new sli-patch this am, and thats when this mess started. The really interesting thing is that now I am unable to use slipatch 1.0, even with rolling back to slipatch 1.0, and doing a clean install of nvidia drivers I am still getting crashing now. VERY frustrating.

Same thing is happening to me.. even if I uninstall the the new 1.42 patch and 270 drivers. I still get flickering in games and crashes in Heaven 2.5/3Dmark benchmark tests.

I found with the 270 drivers, I must force constant 3d performance level using rivatuner, or else one card will drop to 3d low during a game, and that will cause bad things to happen! Once you set that up, games should run smooth.

I explain, im sory French, the first time I have a card gtx 460, I installed 270.xx, involved no problem, I connect with sli sli bridge then I install the patch, I played with no problem 2 Dirt, F1 2010 everything was good, then I play a nfs 1 (shift) and the screen freezing problem, black screen, reboot pc, after not playing a 270 pilot did not answer, I try to patch 0.9,1.0, 1.2,256. xx, 266.xx, nothing was working, I also blue screen, then after a gtx 460 were dead, I pensse that the problem is that the card was overheating with food because of instability sli patch, very unstable, here is my config: NZXT phantom phenom-2x4 970-80 + Antec 650 watt asus ma489gtd Pro - 4 GB of ram ddr3 1333, may also be that my diet is not enough but I pensse do not because dirt and 2 F1 2010 turned in strong directx 11 while up to 60 fps at all times with vsync

I think I really fixed it this time!

So as everyone know I get massive flicker and crashes in games and benchmark tests after installing 270 drivers and SLI patches. So here's what I did..

Uninstall the SLI patch, reboot

Install 267.60 drivers

Install SLI 1.0 final

Shutdown computer and swap the SLI cards. This will make the PC do a new hardware install. reboot

Go into Nvidia Control panel and enable SLI.

I can now play my games and benchmark tests with no flicker and crashes.

As for 267.60 drivers.. they compete with 270.61 just fine! check out this comparison > http://www.overclock.net/13180056-post49.html

cannot find boot information

Got "cannot find boot information" with patch 1.2 on Supermicro. Maybe becayse I need to use a grub based dual boot. Just noticed 1.42 is there so I'll try this next. I set the windows disk to bootable so I can try also to take the linux disk out and it boots directly, will give it a shot.

1) the patch cant overheat cards. it doenst work with it at all
2) you had normal work with some games. i understood you had. when you run nfs shift you noticed problems? did you think by that time when you run nfs your card was already hot, and nfs just finished it?
3) if your card was overheated not because of it's bad, so it's some protection or something else. but it's not slipatch. it's a driver. but i have mine gtx460's ok. and not only me...

the reason, why your card is dead, is probably due to you beeing inable to keep it cool enough ;)
next time, better get yourself a big 240, to hang in front of it... the hack is flawless regarding that, it will NEVER destroy a card:D
anyone that says this, has obviously no real clue about whats going on :)

Many have a vested interest in the successful SLI Patching of these magnitudes faster and expensive, multi-socket server motherboards. Hopefully members who've enabled server Sli and this forums' talented Patch writers could please help resolve this for benefit of all members with sofar unpatched servers.

Also our loss that Coolmiester and handfull of members who reported successfully enabled server SLI don't or can't reply to help requests for their patching procedures.
Thanks for any help,

I finally got SLI working on my X48 Mobo. So, by posting here, maybe someone else searching will be helped.

Specs:

Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 Mobo (775 Socket)
Gigabyte (2) GT 560Ti Graphics Cards
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Nvidia Drivers 266.66
AntiVirus: Avast Free (This Plays a part in it)
External Graphics: Matrox TH2GO Digital Edition

Okay, I downloaded SLI Patch .9B from the guys over at Xdevs. Installed. Got a warning from Avast about a rootkit right after installing the .9B, so I selected delete it. Restarted my machine, selected SLI mode, got the Windows Logo then BAM, Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), Crash dump, reboot.

So, selected normal windows startup. Downloaded Driver Sweeper, uninstalled SLI patch, Uninstalled Drivers, Drive sweeper Nvidia Drivers, turned off my PC. Uninstalled second Vid Card from Mobo, just left one in. Powered up PC, booted into Windows normally.

Installed 266.66 drivers, reboot, install SLI Patch 1.42 found here, reboot, upon reboot I selected SLI boot mode, got to Windows Logo and BAM, BSOD, Crash Dump, reboot.

Ok, I remembered that error warning from Avast, soooooo... I booted normally (no sli), uninstalled SLI Patch 1.42, uninstalled Nvidia Drivers, Ran Drive Sweeper to clear them out, I uninstalled Avast and I uninstalled Matrox GXM software just to be sure. Rebooted.

Started up windows normally, installed Nvidia Drivers, reboot. After Reboot, I installed SLI Patch 1.42 Beta, rebooted. I then selected SLI mode and....No BAM, No BSOD, Booted just fine. Oooooh could it be...

I then shut down my PC, installed my second Vid Card, I had to use an Asus SLI connector that's been sitting in my parts bin for a few years (Asus brand, ironic isn't it, given SLI Patch uses Asus to fake out SLI).

Booted up the PC, Windows Loaded just fine. Went to Nvidia Control Panel, there it was, SLI. Selected it, hit apply, and......it worked. Turned on SLI indicators, entered a game and there was the SLI in its full glory.

I then re-installed my Matrox GXM software, rebooted, windows came up, no issues. I re-installed Avast, rebooted, windows came up, no issues.

Did a virus scan, nothing found. I think Avast didn't like what the SLI patch was doing, once it detected it, and I said delete it, it prevented the SLI patch from completing from that point on, no matter how many re-installs I did.

Only by uninstalling Avast and starting over did it work. I was thinking about updating to 270 drivers, but, I've been reading some issues with Graphic Artifacts, issues with SLI, and not sure if 1.42 will work with it. So, I'm sticking with 266 until...well...until I'm forced to change.

Happy SLI'ing out there.

It seems the key to uninstalling the SLI patch is to remove a card or swap them to make the OS do a new hardware install on PCI. I had to do the same.. clicking uninstall on the SLI patch software isn't enough. I also use a ASUS bridge and Gigabyte board... coincidence? Don't use Avast, MSE here.

Regardless, we found the patch is leaving some sort memory behind after uninstalling it. A new hardware install on the PCI lanes removes it.

I'm sticking with 267.60.. The highest WHQL Certified drivers before Nvidia went 270 on us.

Hi I wish to give my results with the new SLI patch 1.42 and drivers 270.61 that actually solved my troubles of flickering and even missed 120 hz option on my acer GD245HQ.
My setup is:

Asus Crosshair IV formula
AMD Phenom X6 1090T
8 Gb ram 1600
2x GTX 570 with sli bridge
Windows 7 64 bit ultimate

The latest drivers I've used was 267.24 in beta with sli patch 1.0 final. After installing the new 270.xx I've ran in several issues like all of you, like flickering in almost all games. missed 120 hz freq, hangs etc. The new patch 1.42 solved all those issues and everything works fine.
I didn't swap the cards, just fresh install then update to 1.42. I've disabled the antivirus for safe.
Thanks Anatolymik you are doing a pretty good job!

Hi Anatolymik,

I visited the SLIhack.com and checked around but couldn't see any donation links.

I have been using your (team work I believe) patch for almost a year now without any main issues. The only time was when the drivers would stop responding. :D So can you please provide a Paypal link?

I guess you guys are in Russia and use WebMoney instead and won't be able to withdraw any donations. But perhaps will be able to use the Paypal account to buy stuff directly from the Net?

Anyway, thank you and your friends who have been continuously supporting this solution for us. I hope everyone can get their problems sorted out soon enough.

Good day.
