Wll here i am again with another post. I've been messin around with this older card i had, and with new cooler this 800 is the s**t in my book!!!!!!

went from stock clocks of 400/490 to an amazing 570/640 wooohoooo

now here"s the question- Is there a way to goto or overpass the 1300Mhz memory time??

The card is holding out at 67*c and when i push for 650 mem it crashes, altho i was still pushing the 570 core. If i lower the core can i get better memory speed???????????

thanks ,chad

should put this too R480 pci-e

you are probably voltage limited

that's how i was on my r480 gto2. i was @ 588/633 and it would crash over that on either, cept it was topping out at 57C! i had had heat issues with the card at 75C, so i knew it wasn't that. look into the pencil vmods for these cards if you want it to go higher

nice oc tho :toast:

This will help...http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/voltmods/112

i havent re-read this but if i remember right, you wont be able to pencil mod an x850.....its a lot more work then that and the result of a slight increase in speed.. may not be worth the work....

i would consider yourself lucky...those speeds you have are a bit higher then some of the higher overclocked 850's out there....my second pc has an 850pro modded to a 850xtpe...i clock stable on that card around 550/620...i tried the vmod for the gpu and memory and didnt get but 560/640 with really no change in AM3 or 3dmark....

in the time it took me to vmod that card i could have worked and bought a x1800gto for that rig too....

theoretically you can push higher memory clocks with a stock core. this rarely works out tho, and even when it does you dont get much for it, maybe an extra 10MHz.

That makes me think of my ubber X800GTO2 not able to clock more than around 510-520mhz gpu core... It's extra annoying as the GPU doesn't even hit 60°c!!!!! I'm still wondering if it could have something to do with my power supply. The ram doesn't go past 630 (1260) mhz at 48°c after hours of gaming... It's ridiculous... I'll have to re-open my ultimate X800GTO2 problem thread. I have the red board.

voltmod it ;)

If only I was certain where to voltmod using a pencil. If I could only voltmod the ram, I'd probably get an extra 5% 3D speed overall (from say 625 to 670 mhz), and that would be enough to justify the move.

But my GPU core is stuck at around 510 mhz and that is real bad.

i guess this bit of info may be crucial...... my core is an R480 (make a huge difference in clocks) also when i achieved those clocks it was with a dual bay X850XT cooler and my board is blue and no additional power conector

If it is any consolation, my X800GTO2 clocks nearly the same at 55deg (516/607). I don't think heat is the problem. Probably, these chips are just sub-par silicon with some current leakage. They make the GTO2 with surplus 480s provided by ATi to there certified vendors.

Largon, yes, it should do 8.5k with 16pipes. But my card was x800GTO with 12pipes.

Well, some GTO2's do 650mhz, some do 500 like mine... It just sux! And an X850XT PE is 130$...
