I can get an 1800xt for 230, a 1900gt for 180, and a 1900xt for 280. Which one is the best card for the price? Thanks for the help.

Its unlikey you will be able to unlock I think you should get the 512 if you plan on using this card for a while the 512mb mem will come in handy. I dont know about the 1800xt I got a 1900gt.

7900GT's are great for those looking to see how the RMA process works. If you need a card now, the X1900 XT is pretty much the top dog. It will spank the 7900GT solidly even when the GT is Vmodded (which is the only way to get it to beat an X1800XT). 7950's are a waste unless you only have a single PCI-E slot and don't mind spending $500+ on a card that will technically be outdated in 6-9 months when DX-10 is introduced. X1900 XT's can be had for $300 or so if you pay attention to sales. Even an X1800 XT is a better choice considering how much better they are built than any 7900 series card.

EDIT: Just saw your price list (read: pay more attention next time to the original post). The X1800 XT is the best price to performance for what you listed.

No way on the nvidia man....

right now the best bang for the buck it the x1800gto or the x1800gto2...the his x1800gto is $170 and has 256mb mem. with 12 pipes able to mod to 16. The saphire x1800gto2 is $250 and has 512mb mem. and is already open to 16 pipes so no modding needed.

i understand that the 7900gt will unlock to a 7900gtx. so maybe thats where someone thinks it would beat a 19000xtx (i doubt it would) but the price is still steep when compaired to the x1800gto...and with the x1950xtx only diff is the price and DDR4..

The clocks on x1800gto cards can reach upto 725+ for both core and memory...sure the 1900 line could do this however not for the low low price of the x1800gto line...$170 or less

I hate tellen people what to do...or worse yet, having people tell me what to do..So i'll just say it like this.....ADVICE:with dx10, DDR4, and unified shaders on their way this winter, spend as little money as possible and get the best bang for your buck...go with the HISx1800gto....you can learn all you need to about this card in techpowerup forums.....

Stock clocks the X1800 XT beats the 7900GT. There is no comparison of the X1900 to the 7900.

:wtf: I think someone must have read a review with the 7950gx compaired to the 1900xtx...yes 2 7900gts (aka 7900gx) do SLIGHTLY beat out the 1900xtx....however a single 7900gt compaired to a 1900xtx, 7900gt wins....only if your x1900xtx is broken!!!!

the 7900GT high RAM stats are due to BFG, XFX, Gainward and all of those jokers who sell preoverclocked boards,

X1900XT can be flashed to X1900XTX... which is the best card out. Just to give you an idea. ;)

X1950XTX > 7950GX2 > X1900XTX > X1950XT > X1900XT > 7900GTX > X1900GT > X1800XT > 7800GTX > 7900GT > 7800GT

Should be fairly accurate.

well if aegis is correct, then the x1800xt is out since the x1900gt is better and cheaper. Im going to stick with one of the 1900s since i have crossfire support. Is the difference between the two 1900s worth the $100 difference?

No, the X1900GT is not better than the X1800 XT 512MB. BUT, if you get lucky and the X1900 GT you get can unlock youhave a bargain. Either way, the difference between the 2 cards on stock clocks is too close to buy the more expensive card.

Dont always listen forum answers...or all reviews for that matter.....

y would you bios mod a x1900xt to an xtx....no pipes to gain...if memory serves me right the ram is diff. between the cards..but if not then still nothing gained...if you want an xtx out of an xt then up the core/memory voltage and overclock it to a xtx....

But listen to this....if you have xfire board or you have sli true 16x board then you can use 1900gt, 1800gto, gto2, and 1600 models without the dongle...this is nice b/c you then dont need to use a xfire ready mobo...

the x1800gto from HIS is clocked at 520/500....wooopty dooo....however...when properly tweaked it runs 16 pipes at 725+/725+...i have done this to a x1800gto...testing resulted in the card running much faster then the 1800xt 512.....for much much less $$$$$$$

you cant put these cards in order of worse to best b/c some of them can be modded to run much faster like the higher end models....

again this brings me to my original point....BEST CARD FOR THE $$$$ hands down is the HISx1800gto....@less then $170....If anyone can find a better card, then that leave a link for me here...i would love to see it..

ill save you the time.....you cant find one....

happy gaming...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think its worth it Mike since you get twice the ram on the card + u can upgrade it to a xtx? xtx has better quality memory so I heard so you would have somthing like a xtx?

I think it would be better to get the 512 if you ever plan on using crossfire since it will be better than 2 1900gts all by itself.

I do agree that for the money the X1800GTO is impossible to beat for the money. However, teh X1800 XT 512MB will out clock it almost guaranteed. My cards run 740/840 no sweat. But once again I must say, for the money the X1800GTO has no competition and will play any game at nearly max settings if not at max settings. Your best bet really.

Think you are about 3 months out of date, no RMA's that i know of since initial teething problems, had mine for 2 months, overclocked like hell with no problems...I know 4 more in these forums also who have one and had no problems.

But anyway, my choice would not be the 7900Gt, one.... because he didnt list it and two....because the only card better IMO than the 7900GT in his list is the 1900xt and I am gonna get one soon! ohhh and three....at stock the 7900 beats the x1800xt 256Mb and four....the 1800GTO is more expensive than the 7600GT???? which unless I am mistaken beats it in many tests so am not sure why the GTO is "impossible to beat for the money".
