2 CPU Socket Motherboards

I've literally just built my first PC with a single CPU socket motherboard so am not looking to upgrade yet, but for when I do, what adivce can you give me for choosing a twin CPU socket motherboard?
What prices do quality motherboards range from and can you recommend any particular models?
Thinking of sticking with Asus as they are a very reliable manufacturer in my experience.

Well what do you mean? I obviously want to hook up two CPUs in one system, I don't really get how else to answer that question =P

If you're gaming and general desktop use, you'll most likely get no extra performace from a 2p motherboard.
They also cost a ton more than a more normal one, and you'll have to get the more expensive server grade CPU's to get the QPI links for them to talk to eachother. Not to mention the extra ram you'd need to get as well.

If you want to overclock or game forget it. Server work or graphics production is fine, very limited on choices. Last hp dual cpu set up was skulltrail or fx skt1207

Hmm, point taken. Yes I'd probably use it mostly for gaming with a touch of graphics designing here and there...but probably not enough to make it worth while to invest in a whole new motherboard.
Anyway, I think I'm getting ahead of myself; I'll upgrade my RAM and get another graphics card for SLI before I get any other ideas.

Well I plan to use it for a tad bit of graphics designing, but only playing about from time-to-time; most of the time I'll be gaming so I don't think it would be worth it.

I'd go with Supermicro boards. That's what I've used for all of my dual socket rigs and they will generally support even engineering sample chips. Asus is good too but I'd say that Supermicro is more common.

Okay well thanks guys, but I think I've decided I'm not going to be getting a dual processor socket motherboard for the time being as a few of you have pointed out that if I'm mainly going to be using it for gaming, it wouldn't be worth it.
So thanks for all your advice =) And if I ever do decide to look into it further, I'll check out Supermicro boards.
