I owned a strix 2080ti, ftw3 3080ti which isn't too far from a 3090ti, and currently have a Gigabyte gaming OC 4090 in my main system. Each jump was more than worthwhile especially if you like RT. The one nice thing about the 4090 is it can do most it's performance at 340w so even though it has a 450w default limit it's easy to tune that down.

Depending on the games you play you really can't go wrong and like you mentioned 50 series is likely 14-15 months away maybe longer.... I would say unless that 4090 deal is going to disappear it is probably worth waiting for a super card if it is a limited deal I would probably jump on it. I still have my 3080ti in my secondary pc and and 1440p it is still pretty great and the 90ti has more oomph.

I voted stay with 2080Ti. I see people suggesting the 4090 though for $1900 or so. i think it is a waste of money especially if you want to play the new UE titles and apparently, 4090 struggles with it. Yes it is a huge bump in performance vs 2080 ti but you need to ask yourself, Are you buying a graphics card for the bump vs previous only or you want to play the games the way you want? With 4090 you can play for sure but it will struggle nonetheless. For a price tag the card has i dont think it is worth it and that situation is not going to improve overtime. If you must go with something, I'd get the 3090ti and wait. you'd still get a boost in performance over your current card and wont spend wheel barrel of money for a card that is tagged, fastest with a ridiculous price due to the title. Maybe 4080 is something to consider? Although the price tag on this one isn't any better. You could wait for the supers and see what will happen. If you'd get a 4080 super for a decent price that would make sense. maybe there's gonna be a 4090 super?

I mean, if $1600 for 4090 is a "good deal" then just go for it.

I wouldn't pick 3090 Ti simply because of terrible power efficiency and I'm the guy with 3080 Ti.

4090 for RT and efficiency, if you have the cash. Otherwise stick with 2080Ti. If you've got $600 to waste, then invest $1000 in the 4090. Although I woudnt. I'd stick with the 2080 until the next round of models is revealed from AMD/Intel that will put downward pressure on the 4xxx series even if 5xxx isnt ready.

Just wait. It's already half way through November, which makes this highly relevant to your choices.

This poll is unanswerable as-is because I don't know what the budget is and what you're wanting to do. The 3090 ti for $600 and the 4090 for $1600 can each make sense in different scenarios.

Thanks for all the votes. I think I will move forward with a 3090ti and wait to see what happens with 5xxx series. Because if I did get a 4090 I would likely not get the next series.
