yall are going to have to except the fact that xp was an awesome OS... but its time to move on..we cant use xp forever now

If it wasn't for the fact i got a new PC i'd be too lazy to upgrade to XP. Now upgrading to Vista is the same case :p

Well they either havent tried it and jump on the hate bandwagon or they tried it and uninstalled it because they refuse change...

or...

They tried it and found their computer slow because the HDD is getting accessed all the time, thats because it is indexing the files for easy searches, if they gave it a week they would notice that it is not so bad..., if not better.

I don't hate it. My computer just performs better and has less issues with XP. It's all personal preference really. I'm not switching to Vista because I'm waiting for Windows 7. With Windows 7 it's an entirely new O/S with no compatability with previous Windows versions or drivers. Pretty much what they should of done with Vista in the first place.

they should have done that with every os.

What? You need to start reading up I think. Nothing about that statement is remotely correct.

It's sadly just 32bit, but it will works like the rest on 32bit apps in 64bit OS. But they add support for PPU and don't make a 64bit version. Priorities anyone?

Wonder if 8800/9800 series can be used with CUDA on that physics test? That would be fun=higher score. Interesting to see is the 3DMark world record dudes need to get a PPU too or is that 12,5% score part more easily overcome with just higher clocks on rest of the system.

Wonder if it looks good in a slideshow this time. Remember when 3DMark05 came out and people said it looked like *rap and it did look a bit weird with my 1900 score too. Well GPU upgrade later it almost ran and looked much better. Now that it's smooth It's easy to see why those with killer rigs disagreed with the rest on medium rigs on how it looked back when it was new.

*sigh* if you read about 10 posts before you it's been stated that Futuremark (who are completely and wholly independent of Microsoft) like to stay on the cutting edge of technology. Guess what? DirectX 10 and Vista are the latest technologies, ergo Futuremarks latest software is DX10 and hence Vista only compatible. God... some people.....

I installed vista and I had too many conflicts with my hardware, my tvtuner wouldn't work right and it kept on crashing when I tried to install it on my old computer so I just said screw it, and its not because they were too slow either, both can run vista ultimate with all the whistles but I could only get one pc to work properly so I uninstalled it on both and installed xp on them again.

Its frustrating because I bought my laptop and it is vista certified and when I tried to install vista it always fails and ends up with the black screen on boot and the death screen.

not to mention that it just isn't worth it, its not worth the hastle to update, especially when you lose performance for no reason, DX10 just isn't worth the upgrade.

How reliable is this launch date? Also, it's really starting to make sense why nVidia acquired AGEIA to being with. (Tip: that fourth physics test) Other than they really wanted to keep it out of the hands of Intel or even AMD. I mean, I'm sure even AMD with its poor financial outlook could have afforded to pick up a small corporation like AGEIA for pocket change. Especially considering AGEIA was going nowhere fast on its own. Anyways, marketing and hype-wise ATI/AMD will have the Dx 10.1 capabilities in it's corner and nVidia will have beefy physics processing capabilities on it's side. Purely for consumer bs'ing purposes of course, in both cases.

And yes, Windows 7 will be pretty much Vista under the hood. Everything Microsoft has said and done indicates this. In fact, various reports and leaks on blogs and elsewhere of preview builds including the leaked screen-grabs of Milestone 1 build of Windows 7 running on top of Vista Ultimate indicate a similar architectural pathway to that of Vista itself.
