8 FPS in 3d view??!!

Hi!

I have recently acquired an ATI x700 256 Mb and, for some reason, the 3d view window in ATI Tool only shows an FPS of 8.5 and AVG of 8 at best. I can run Oblivion at medium details on my system, so I don't think those values are anything near the actual performance of my card.
Still, it's quite annoying, and a little worrying. Does anybody around here have an idea of what's goin on?
Here are myt system specs:

Athlon XP 2600+
512 DDR 333 MHz
DFI KT600-AL
Powercolor ATI x700 256 Mb AGP

I haven't forgotten to plug the additional power supply connector to the video card, and I even put a cooler fan above the bridge chip to lower its temperature, so I'm getting a little anxious right now.

dont you have to put manually in some option if ur card is agp or pci-e? my friends got x700 pro pci-e and hes gets just over 100 fps i believe
