Which one is better? I am thinking of doing one last upgrade to my PC.

These are the ones I am considering are...

EVGA 8800GS Superclocked: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130333

or...

Gigabyte 8800GT 256MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125089

or...

Any 9600gt, doesn't matter...they all more or less cost the same. I am eyeballing the Palit one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814261001

Also, I have a acer 22in monitor which native res. is 1680x1050.

From what I have read, the 8800gt 256mb might be the best bet, but the 9600gt seems good to.

Why have you picked such an expensive 9600gt?

The evga 9600gt is a lot cheaper.

Its between the 8800gt-256mb and 9600gt imo. I voted for the 9600gt because my 256mb card struggles at 1680*1050.

i think the 9600gt might be the best choice especially because of the 512mb vram at that res and because more and more games use alot of vram nowdays

Well it has to do with the higher factory OC, and the silent factory market cooler that the palit has. But I am open to any 9600gt...so I might just go for the cheaper evga...

But then it treads very close to 8800gt territory. The 8800gt would be a much better buy if you get to ~$200.

How about the superclocked 8800gs (650 cpu, 1900 mem), it has the same core as the GT, and factory clocked more or less at GT speeds.

But then it treads very close to 8800gt territory. The 8800gt would be a much better buy if you get to ~$200.

I guess ;), but I am a budget around $175 after MIR.

Looks like I am gonna get a 9600gt, now I have to see which one. Main things are that is quite, and should not be more than 9in (have a htpc case).

looks like between the MSI or the Palit.

8800GT 256 in low resolution outperforms the 8800GS 384 and 9600GT 512.
9600GT 512 high resolution outperforms the 8800GT 256 and 8800GS 384.

so really it comes down to resolution.

yea...its seems like 1680x1050 is the 8800GT 256 kill point, which is not good for me.

I voted 8800GS because your not playing over 1600x resolution majority of games 8800GS outperforms the 9600GT, however I excluded the 8800GT 256 because the price to performance ratio is really bad compared to the 8800GT 512.

Edit: if you decide to buy a new monitor in the next 90 or 100 days go with eVGA or BFG (newegg doesn't sell BFG 8800GS but other stores have them) so you can step up to a 9600GT or 9800GTX

You left out the 8800GT 512MB.

I'd be getting the 8800GTS 512MB as best value for money right now.

I thought it was around the same size as the 8800s. Could be wrong though.

I think that pirce/performance ratio is the 9600GT.
