Yes, the game itself does not take any profits from SLI, but the benchmark mode included in demo does (authors words).

EDIT: Live or Die - sure, 650W would be fine, but the system itself does need so much power. :)
These are full system power consumption tests:

Setup:
Code:
INTEL Core 2 Duo X6800
MSI P6N Diamond
Corsair 1024-6400C4 x2 2024 MB (DDRII 800)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTx2
Barracuda 9 SATAII 320GB ( 7,200 转 )
Sony DRU-840A
EVEREST 800W
Windows Vista

8800GT idle:

8800GT stress:

8800GT SLI idle:

8800GT SLI stress:

I've seen quite a few tests like that in the network and _never_ total power consumption was over 400W. A good quality 500W PSU will handle setup like that (i.e. Tacens Supero 500W, Corsair HXEU520W, etc). Similar 550-600W will be more than enough. :)

I'm not saying that Nex can't buy powerfull PSU though. :) As always - If You can afford it, go for it. :D

I wouldn't call Chieftec CFT-500-A12S a high-end PSU, You know. It IS good, but it's not high-end. :p

There IS a CHANCE, that it will work, but it just might not. And if it will - this PSU will be working with very high load at it's +12V rail, which isn't too healthy. This is the main criteria - how strong the +12V rails are in Your PSU, not only how many W the PSU offers.
From what i've read - the 8800GT SLI need quite solid +12V line, which can handle all the W at ~36 ampers.

AFAIK, Your PSU has 3 +12V rails (+12V1 12A,+12V2 21A and +12V3 13A) which combined can handle total 380W at ~32A. For example, the Corsair CMPSU-520HXEU 520W can handle total 480W (at +12V rails) at 40A.

So - once again - it might work, but it don't have to. :D

I hope i'm helpfull, not only disappointing. :D

Well thanks for your help. You are not disappointing ;)

Well you are lucky. The cheapest 8800GT in Holland is the Asus 8800GT. They cost almost 220 euro. So two of them are 440 euro @ 646 U.S. dollars.
