A good 500ish GB SSD?

I'm looking for a good 500ish GB ssd that isn't named samsung. I feel like you pay for the name. I had one and they are blazing fast, but there must be others that are cheaper and comparable. I saw the PNY in the fs, but I uneasy about the uncertainty of that drive.

Going by general interpretation the Sandisk X300s 512GB and Kingston HyperX 3K 480GB SSDs are good alternatives. I'm a bit skeptical about Crucial, but unfortunate I've only used Samsung SSDs with the first one being the same one I still use now as seen in my specs.

Before the Samsung 840 PRO 256GB SSD I used two OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SSDs in Raid 0 as one 240GB SSD in it's current state at that time back around 2009 or 2010 was too poor for specs and a single 120GB SSD wasn't good enough for me.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention my Vertex 2 was the 3.5 "Big Foot" models which proved to be more reliable than the Vertex 2 2.5 models it would seem.

Crucials are probably the most reliable SSD in that price-range. I'd go with the Mx100 in a heartbeat, though there may be better performers.

I have a HyperX 480GB and I like it's performance. I'm using it on my Win-10 TP system.

Either the crucial mx drive or the Samsung 840 evo will suffice. There are not many others in that area for the money I have heard excellent things about other than Kingston.

I've bought both MX100 and MX500 Crucial SSDs for other people and they've been worked great. I would recommend going this route as I've found that Crucial tends to have one of the best price per GB ratios and has very solid products.
