ok does this mean that an AMD 2.2Ghz 3700+ means it runs like a Intel 3.7Ghz? and alot more different to an 32bit and 64 bit?

i thought it was in comparison to pre athlonxp athlons (when they still had a mhz speed e.g. athlon 1400 etc) it certainly was with the athlon xp, though it would have made sense (as well as confusion) to change it when the 64 came out

well, pretty much, if that "3.7hgz" intel processor is one of the old Pentiums.

basically, although AMD had low clock frequencies, their CPUs wre a lot more efficient at processing than their equivelent pentium chips.

thats right amd user the xxxxx+ as the equivelent of the p4 chips after the change of intel to more process at clock than more clock to process* this name is inadequate.

*in pentium4 it was lets say 1 clock per process but amd have 1 clock 2 process hence in a 1 gh cpu of intel was 1000 process when on amd 500 mh was enough for the same processes

now days intel make in 1 clock 3 process when amd is still in 1 for 2 shadedshushadedshu lets hope phenom is good for his name

Initially the rating was a comparison with a Thunderbird 1400, an Athlon Xp 1400+ would be equal to a Thunderbird 1400. However the ratingsystem has changed several times and currently they're being compared to P4's, however AMD never claimed it was like that. It's a decent way to compare though.

I look at the ghz, bearing in mind that an Intel that uses Netburst with 1 more GHz will be about the same.
