I am using CPUID to check the status of my system when overclocking (mildly) the CPU to 4 GHz.
The article in Toms hardware indicates a stable system at 1.275 volts and 4.4 Ghz.
CPUID is indicating a core voltage in my case of .144 volts, way below the Toms article.
Should I leave the system alone or attempt to manually set the core voltage?
Obviously, I am a newby, so please disregard my lack of familiarity with the topic.

You may be seeing your idle voltage though that seems very low. Watch CPUz with a CPU intensive app running, it should jump

That is what I thought, but when I stress tested it the voltage remained the same.
I will try again.
Thank you for the response !

please clarify something... Your rig runs 4.0GHz at 1.144V? The OP states 0.144V.

Tom's says 4.4Ghz with 1.275V is more or less the "sweet spot"
Also every CPU is different, some will do more than 4.4GHz with Tom's listed voltage, some will take quite a bit more to get that same speed.

The CPU is running at 4.0GHz and CPUID and CPU-Z both show core voltage as between 0.136 and 0.144 volts.

It cannot be that voltage, for some reason the sensor is not being read correctly.

Does the motherboard not come with software for monitoring? Maybe that will shed some real light on the voltage. OF course it could be that the chip is not fully supported by bios or the motherboard and could be why the strange readings.

I agree. The MSI utility does not show core voltage. CPUID shows the core voltage as 0.136 to 0.144
as noted and shows the following CPU voltages:
VID 1.249,
IA 1.280,
GT 1.177.
I now have to google what they are and see if it makes any sense. :) Is it possible that there is factor of 10 missing? IE. 1.44 volts core voltage?

4.0 GHz at 0.144 either that cpu is made of pure unobtainium or the sensor is bunk

ran out of unobtanium last week. seems the sensor is fubarred. Any idea what the other voltages are?

Voltages look fine if a bit high for a meer 4Ghz
I would back the VID and IA off a couple notches
