Also make sure you have SP2 and the amd dual core driver / amd cool n' quiet drivers installed....

Yes, it's is good to also have that, but you need to enable both cores in BIOS. I have the two motherboards which require this, and my DFI is exactly the same as his.

I found this out by experimenting when I first got my Asrock MB, I disabled multi-core support, and booted into XP, and found it only recognised 1 core.

Yes you are right ! but how much better is the next platform ? cd2/am2 etc

i say this cause i am always disapointed even though the upgrades are a bit better.

co2d seems to be the best option at the moment but i guess that if i switched from my fx60 i would be disapointed with the results yet again!!

so i think i will wait for a better increse...

I agree with you there, the "upgrades" usually give minimal gain, for the amount spent, so sometimes, it's not worth it.

And BTW, the DFI MB that Zero Cool and I have, is the best OC MB of it's time, and still up there with the best around now. The only thing that disappoints me is the SLI only supports X8 and not x16, which is one of the reasons I bought my Asrock MB.

When I get my CPU working fine I will overclock the shit out of it

Okay, I just downloaded the manual from the DFI website, and I cannot find anywhere that allows you to disable dual core support in BIOS. I must be getting confused with my Asrock MB which does have this. All I can suggest is updating the BIOS to the latest version from the link below, and also installing the Athlon X2 driver, also below:

I don't have a floppy either. There is a link on that DFI download page for a Windows flashing utility, just make sure you don't have anything else open. BTW, I'd do that AMD driver thing first, and see if that works, if not, then flash away.

Just download the newest one, and check the motherboard revision (revision A or B).
