Well i'll leave it for him to pick his money after all.. I will have to check for some reviews on them both.

The posted GIGABYTE GA-770TA-UD3 looks a little bear around the CPU don't those chips get stinking hot lol ? ( unless GB are special :p LMAO )..

its 22 bucks over, but you maybe be able to get ur fella to go for it, and if not then maybe you can find some parts to work around

EDIT: also, i'd still push for him to only get a 1440x900/1280x1024 monitor if he's for longevity with high IQ settings in games. at 1680x1050 this build with work fine for now and probly the next 6months-1yr but after that it won't be able to quite keep up at highest settings.

1440x900 just what i was thinking. Took me and a few other soooo long to get him finally get him upgrade and he finally did and got a 5850 + a monitor ( 1440x900 ) :).
