OK as my specs show i got an Athlon 64 3200 socket AM2...i am INCREDIBLY new to the whole overclocking thing (my whole experience is prolly a solid 15 minutes)... And im just plain confused....I first set my cpu frequency to 210 as my first ever oc to kinda see wut would happen...ya well it downclocked my cpu by 70mhz.... So i then get to reading deeper in that Athlon 64 tutorial on overclocking...something i must of done wrong ebcause i lowered my multiplier to 8 (its max is 10...kinda retarded in my opinion) then i lowered my ram down to 667 (its ddr2-800) and i raised voltage from 1.400 to 1.450 and then set my CPU frequency to 210..and NOTHING happened....it actually downclocked my cpu by a good 500mhz lol....well i figured wut the hell.. i left voltage alone..set everything back to its stock setting...then i put CPU frequency to 250 and nothing happened i swear its laughing at me!! cpuz registers my FSB to be at 193 my multiplier 10X, and my HTT 9XX voltage 1.456...so wut am i doing wrong?

let the multi at 10
put cpu at 210
should give you a speed of 2100mhz

The bus speed being at 193 usually means the overclock failed for some reason. It's the failsafe mode. Try setting your HT multiplier (also called LDT sometimes) to 4x or 800Mhz (whichever applies in your bios), then bump the bus speed to 210.

lowering your HTT will help out with this. I dont think Id go into bumping your voltage up right from the start. Setting your memory on a divider and cranking the cpu up until it bsods or freezes is a good general rule of finding the max the cpu can do. After that, you can start increasing the voltage until its stable. Then go back to the cpu. Also, in your bios, there is a setting where cool n quiet is enabled. You may have to dig around into a subsection, but every AMD cpu and bios has a setting to enable/disable Cool N Quiet. Also, make sure to save the settings when you exit. Im not saying you didnt, just a friendly reminder.

Have you updated to the latest BIOS? Also, some mobos require you to hit ctrl-F1 to access the hidden menus.

If there is no option in bios then you could try to uninstall the AMD CPU driver.

Or try a different power scheme,Home/Office might do it.
Also check the Gigabyte site for a utility to manage your CPU, if they do one!!

I used to have the same core, put htt@ 1ghz, put multiplier at 10, and put up your fsb as much as you want{dont remember the right settings, but I do remember that the 10 multiplier was actually 10.2 or something}

MY old Gigabyte motherboard didn't include a CnQ option, but it did have SmartFan Control. When I enabled that, and had the CnQ driver installed, with one of the correct low power profiles, I could control fan speed, but also, the CPU would underclock.
Maybe SmartFan is CnQ in your BIOS too, but as it's disabled (and CnQ only changes CPU multiplier) it wouldn't explain the lower than stock FSB... should be at about 200MHz, without any changes.
Clear the CMOS, and leave everything at its default setting, unless you need to enable something like SATA RAID to start Windows, then see what CPUz says.

EDIT: Just looked at this:
http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/GA-M55SLI-S4-ftopict208860.html Message 5 on there, seems someone else got around their problem with OCing by using other utilities, see if you can do the same.

Oh, and how the hell are you currently able to run 3 sticks of RAM? I know the older A64 cores only supported, 1, 2 or 4 sticks of RAM (officially at least). This may be causing the problem.

That's really odd, tater. This is what I was able to do on my single core AMD chip. I know it's not the same core, but my multi is at 10x so you might be able to achieve similar results, that is if you can get your BIOS figured out.
