These spy pictures of an early engineering sample Radeon HD 5870 X2 are tasty in way that only a 13.5" dual GPU video card can be. I snagged a picture in case they get yanked, hit the link for the rest of the photos.

i beated to you (see the 5970 benchmarks thread). Also yes, its a full 13.5 inches long. You will have to remove the hdd cage in almost all mid size cases and most full towers.

yaay I still got enough room for this card, I got the Raven RV01 case which you have too tilt your motherboard on a 90 degree angle therefore giving you much more room for long arse video cards like these ones. I got the HD5870 from sapphire and I still got about 8cm in room which is just over 3inches so Im happy, I would by this card and sell off my 5870 but still not sure about this microstuttering shit that keeps happening with dual video cards, what do you guys think, I will be playing at high resolutions and demanding games.

Is it 13.5 inches long or is that ruler messed up cause i swear im seeing the card end at a little more then 12 inches not a full inch right. THE CARD LOOKS RAPE ZOMFG. Now if it is 12.5 inches long my antec 902 would even cut it with the bays on in there orientation. :nutkick:

To the AMD/ATI guy reading this because his web crawler found key words like "5970" and "too damn big".

For your next great leap forward in the never ending struggle to kill Nvidia and vise versa. MAKE THE CARDS SMALLER. For the mid-ranged card PC gamers, we are will to lose a little power for smaller cards. 5770 was too much power lose.

I may be alone, but I want a 5830 with 85 to 90% of the 5850 power, but has the length of a 5770 or 4850. That would be very impressive to me. Or if the 5970 (if it is real) gets better performance than the 5870, but is the same size.

Not that I don't agree with all of you but this thread is going to get shut down if we continue on a course of action using general terms of anatomy to discuss this card. Not that I don't find humor in it but still, not not worth getting the thread closed over. But ya that is one monster card, kind of disappointed in the performance my self but I'm sure there is a lot of performance to be had from such a card.

Length is a crazy killer for this one, if the 'rumors' hold any merit and Fermi is to go toe to toe with this 'X2', yet they manage to make it shorter than GT200, like the mock up, ATi will be caught with their pants down big time IMO.

These are synthetic benchmarks done on a card with no real driver support. This seems pretty good to me for a pre-release benchmark test.

it's long and skinny.. the "cases" don't like long and skinny. if they can thicken it up and shorten it a bit this might be desired by many of the "cases" around the world.
