I really wish 7900 XT and XTX drivers had a minimal driver install option that included just freesync and nothing else. Even the minimum vs driver only install option has a lot of bloat I will never use. That would be my only wish from AMD, include a driver only with freesync option for the install. I guess the bloat isn't a big deal though just ignore it and don't use it.
"Driver Only" with a side of More Clock Tool should do exactly that.

AMD 1st Party and Radeon Indonesia (community 3rd party) drivers also have an iCafé (ultra lightweight for Internet Café/LANcenter) version.
The AMD Internet cafe dedicated driver is customized and maintained by the AMD domestic R&D team. It continuously conducts various platform compatibility tests based on domestic popular network games, video applications, Internet cafes without fees, game updates and other applications and management software. The domestic Internet cafe environment has undergone a lot of optimization,And through continuous cooperation with game developers and Internet cafe management software developers, a dynamic version of compatibility customized for users in the Internet cafe industry. Compared with the Radeon Adrenalin software package, this version is characterized by simplifying the size of the drive installation package and eliminating some components that are not commonly used in Internet cafes without affecting performance and compatibility.

Though, both 'iCafe' versions appear a version or few behind. Not so much a problem on XT/XTX; bit of a rub on my GRE.

hey thanks for this, i think i will do driver only install, and then the moreclock tool for freesync turned on. i don't think i will mess with anything else, but thanks for looking out none the less, that is interesting :D

I set it to default speed + FT because i read it adds about 50+ on average.

That puts me right under the rated speed at 21Gbps right? 2475 essentially. Ive found memory overclocking to be annoying to deal with. You dont know where the limit is before you're hurting your performance.
Stability checking on a memory overclock is annoying, agreed. For me when I want to do it quick and dirty I just check what the Radeon software determines as a safe overclock for the card and use that as my overclock in an overall custom overclock/undervolt/power increase. Seems to be working okay.

I know you were tinkering in recent weeks with temperature on your liquid cooled xtx, have you had any progress? my memory is terrible (i have severe sleep apnea) just wondering if you improved your temps and is the improvement consistent in all your testing/gaming?

sorry if I already asked this.
Yep, the latest intervention with the card was a success. Across a suite of games the edge temperature never goes above 55C (edge was never really the problem) and the hotspot remains under 82C. Still a significant delta between edge and hotspot but I'll take it as a win. All other temperature observations are good - memory particularly which stays around 60C even with a mild memory overclock. All and all I can live with this now.

110 hotspot on a regular basis to 82??? on a consistent basis. hell yeah that is a win. wow

and I think delta gaps are wider with xt and xtx on a general basis, i know guru3d review of my xfx 7900 xt merc 310 showed a 49 core and like 79 hotspot. i think 30 gap is just the new normal, or anything around 20-30 is the new normal I should say. /shrug

But why? It's not like you have to use every feature the driver has, and it's not like the driver suite using 750-ish MB on your system drive is a tragedy these days.

It's funny to read users report to disable issue detection cos they think it fixes the issue, i do not think they realize they are still crashing, or am i just being stupid ?

Can say from having a similar setup and roughly similar upgrade 'experience'

The AM4 X3D is well worth it.

no real reason, just like minimalism and I want to see if it works alright cause i just like tinkering /shrug

I get that - I like minimalism, too... :) Unless I lose out on basic functionality. Besides, there's lots of other things to tinker with in the driver menu, like the FPS limiter, or enhanced sync, which are also a must-have for me.

Tiny11 got a major update yesterday, I may give that a go, with driver only option, and MoreTools for Freesync turned on. Could be interesting experiment.

If it wasn't for compatibility issues, I'd Daily Drive WS2019 Desktop (for how 'el strippo' and snappy it is.)

Would you be willing to do some Latency testing and comparison? (Current install/Fresh 11 v. Tiny11?)

I don't 'twitch' game much anymore but, I've been pursuing lower latency (everything) since the Death of The CRT.

Reporting in from a couple of months of using my PowerColor 7900 XTX. The good news, I think i've found a stable undervolt for the card! I've been using the below settings without an issue in multiple games for a week now (averaging 8hrs a day play):
Screenshot 2024-04-26 134424.png

I'm now going to start lowering the power limit to see if the hungry beast can run the above with less power.

Now the bad news, it seems the PowerColor Paste-Job Curse™️ afflicts my RDNA 3 card, same as it did my RDNA 2 card. In some games/tests I have up to a 30C (!) delta between GPU and hotspot/junction:
1714110502725.png

The saving grace is that unlike my 6950 XT (which could hit over 100C at the hotspot) the card stays cool even with that delta. I cannot get either the hotspot or junction up to or over 90C no matter how much power I pour into the card. I am thankfully prepared if it gets worse with some PTM7950 and thermal putty, but so far even with the delta it seems not required.

And the great news: this card is the best tech purchase I've ever made by far. I cannot stress how happy I am with it; it is SO powerful. It handles everything I throw at it at 1440p and the lowest FPS I see on average is 90fps in UE5 games (except for Remnant II's latest update, thank you Gunfire Games). I've also tested FSR3 in a couple of games and I'm surprised that it actually looks pretty good. If you look really hard you can spot the difference between it and native resolution in the games I've tested, but in motion you'd be hard-pressed to spot the difference.

I'm now in the process of selling AM4/5 and RDNA 3 builds to all of my friends, so far i've helped 5 people upgrade and they've all had success :)

So 24.4.1 is out now again mentioning issues with Dying light 2 and particles partially started to render again, but purple floaties are still missing.
Game also has same issue as Ratchet & clank rift apart where it will flash parts of the renderer sometimes even white flash indicating their is probably an issue with how particle effects are handled at driver level.

On top of that i see lots issues reported since 24.3.1 but non of these issues managed to get to the known issue list, and even more issues are reported with 24.4.1
i think AMD could use a community manager probably because user feedback does not reach the Radeon driver team by the looks of it.

Most of these issues you wont ever see unless you are far into the game, i have missed issues as well then noticed them on second day, only for me to check recording of previous day and see same bug.
I am currently in the process of reproducing another issue but its also far into the game.

This request is only for 7900 XT users. I just was wondering if you would be willing to share a screenshot of your stable long-term oc in the Radeon software. I just want to have some exact settings to try out that have worked for others.

Just me having issues
https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/1cid0sa Since the OP deleted he's topic here is a screenshot.
Clearly just me

No but seriously if given up on World of Warcraft in 2023 when i realized i was not crashing in other games, although not totally true i do crash in games like the Last of us part 1 which got fixed, or Helldivers 2 which i am not sure if fixed yet, and few other games.

Going thru Marvel guardians of the galaxy right now which can crash with RT on chapter 11 only way to progress is disable RT

If any Vanguard program users around, make AMD recognize the issues with World of Warcraft, make them investigate it may be totally Blizzard fault, but its not for AMD to ignore even if it is Blizzard fault, they should be able to do some kind of hotfix that blocks Blizzard from doing anything that makes their gpu's crash.

This request is only for 7900 XT users. I just was wondering if you would be willing to share a screenshot of your stable long-term oc in the Radeon software. I just want to have some exact settings to try out that have worked for others.
Only use it as a baseline to tweak from, silicon lottery still applies, if never fully understood overclocking Radeon gpu's and still i got legendary score on speedway somehow, i just run stock for daily use on the unleashed bios, because i see little to no gains at all anyway and choose stability.

Just crashed as predicted in chapter 11 Marvel Guardians of the galaxy with RT on, the only way to progress is to disable RT, AMD has so far been ignoring the issue.
Not sure if forums have spoiler tag but if so i will add link in the spoiler tag, because i livestreamed my playthrough from chapter 10 to chapter 11 until i quit from main menu or crash

If some one wants to try and reproduce it i do have a save game i can share, just ask and i will provide.

to be honest, I never bought AMD expecting Ray tracing, doesn't bother me one bit, and I am not a huge fan of Ray tracing just yet, performance hit is heavy, plus it can make some things look better true, but it can also make some things look worse than when off. so it's not a automatic winner anyway in my book, i'd rather have as much fps as possible.

A game that is about 3 years old i would expect RT to work perfectly fine on chapter 11, its not like performance is much of an issue, just the stability is an issue.

fair. just report it to guardians devs and AMD bug area. it probably won't change anything, but its worth a try, nothing will ever change unless we try, that's how I feel about many issues in this world.

maybe you can turn it off for chapter 11, then turn it back on in chapter 12? I don't know

Nah i am pretty stuborn until AMD recognizes the issue, maybe i should do a live stream of me daily trying chapter 11 with RT on until AMD recognizes the issue, they been ignoring a lot of user reported issues, and its about time they dealt with that.
on 24.3.1 i wrote down 60 reported user issues since 24.3.1, and its a clean list.
on 24.4.1 i started fresh and its about 60 as well.
Speaking of which you can record or stream in HDR with AMD
Follow this guide

I just do not undersrtand how AMD still did not add an option to tonemap to SDR when recording in HDR, and option to enable HDR recording.
in the end AMD Relive is just a toned down version of OBS, however OBS can do HDR and tonemaping to SDR from HDR for quite a while now.

What do you think has the best cooling performance between these three TIMs?
  1. PTM7950
  2. CARBONAUT
  3. KRYOSHEET
I am looking for an end solution for my 7900 XTX air cooler as the hotspot temp has gotten worse. You guys have recommended me PTM7950 already but I still want to push the card to its limits without it going beyond 95C.

While playing War Thunder max settings, shadows at minimum my card used to do 2800mhz at about 90C, now it does about 2500mhz at 110C.
