I was just trolling a bit, I saw some decent B650 options in a Hardware Unboxed comparison, but I will buy when Ryzen 5 comes out, anyway.

But personally, I do not get the whining about the prices that much, because I had recently bought a x570 board and I found out that prices were horrible for B550 MB especially, many people built new systems with AM4 due to very nice Zen 3 prices. Most entry level B550 boards were 160 euro, so B650 didn't look so bad to me.

That's not really an AMD issue ~ it's a Windows issue, more specifically an OS issue.

You can run multiple benches with the same OS image on one system 10 times & all 10 times you could see (vastly) different benchmark results!

I'd buy the 7950x 3d over it to be fair. There are games that performance will drop due to lack of cores

Those new A620 boards have some serious restrictions and will (probably) still be too costly but even with a 65W TDP limit, they will hardly hold back this CPU except in MT benchmarking. And it seems that motherboard makers are allowed to go above 65W, at least Asrock did.

Yes, it's allowed, but there's no apparent clear marking to indicate this from my understanding.

You should do a fresh install anyway, this is a non-issue for 99.9999% of the users.

The biggest defect of this CPU is that it will be hard to get at non scalped prices for a while due to it being so freaking good. For most people, outside of gaming, the performance of a 16 thread CPU is way more than they need.

Got the 7700x just over a week ago for 4K gaming. No regrets.

I'm not an elitist, but I am curious why you didn't wait an extra week? According to TPU its a 5% difference for a mere $50, that is a respectable margin.

For me there is currently a 120 usd delta between them and on top of that It will probably be hard to buy tomorrow. especially for a 4k gamer the extra 120 saved can go into better ram or better motherboard. You can at least make a case either way.

Are you creeping his post in other threads because in the actual post he made in this review he doesn't state a price.

Also the 7700X has been 330 ish since last year so if he did pay $400 without tax he's not in the US which means the 7800X3D might also be more expensive.

It definitely is in the best interest of AMD to have many of these available, because it will finally start moving AM5 MBs for them. Will they, though? History is not on their side.

In any case, i'm pretty sure I won't see one at MSRP for several months in France, but maybe US guys will get more luck on that.

Also, the results back then showed the 5800X3D tied in results for 1080P gaming to the 12900K(S). While this one is clearly ahead. So, can you explain what you tried to achieve writing that post?

Nice little CPU, If someone wants peak performance for gaming, this is definitely the way to go. Intel NEEDs to come out with their version of a CPU with stacked cache if they want to stay competitive, Most games seem to benefit more from higher amounts of cache instead of higher clocks.

But if someone is going to do a mix of applications as well with gaming, I'd lean more towards the 7900X3D or 13700K to be honest.

Looks like the 7800X3D is going to live up to expectations in performance and value. Very excited for the new wave of people able to experience 3D V-Cache and its effect on gaming.

I'll be sitting this generation out, as the 5800X3D will still be a solid performer for years to come, but man am I pumped to see what the future will bring to the 3D line.

Unless AMD is intentionally holding back, these CPUs should be widely available for plenty of reasons. First, the performance increase is a lot less impressive than 5800X3D at its time. Secondly, demand for desktop CPUs is at a 30-year low due to an economic downturn, rising energy costs and rampant inflation in many countries across the globe. Thirdly, AM5 is still a relatively new platform. The 5800X3D was a great upgrade at the end of AM4's lifetime. There was a huge install base to potentially suck up these CPUs. That is not even remotely the case with AM5. As stated before, hardware sales have been exceptionally slow ever since the war in Ukraine started. Demand is/was very low.

There is definitely going to be a shortage in the first few days as with any and every hardware launch but unless AMD is intentionally trickling supply into the market then I'd expect wide availability towards the latter half of April easily.

I'm not knocking what you said about the CPUs, their results speak for themselves. I'm just saying each year we do the annual "the king is dead, long live the king!" crowning.
