ok i just bought brand new products for my computer.
300 gb barracuda hdd
ati x1800 xt 512mb
asus a8r-mvp mobo
amd x2 3800 cpu
1gb ram

ok i hooked everything up and i was getting ready to power up. put plug in outlet and pushed power button. for one millisecond all of the lights flash, like the leds on my fans and all. and then nothing happens when i push it again untill i take out power cable wait till the mobo standby light shuts off and put back in power cable and push the power button again, then same thing happens. the problem isnt the cpu i double checked. its not the graphix card, and im pretty sure its not the hdd. i cant find out what the freaking problem is. i talked to my bro-in-law about it ( works with computers as a carrer) and we coudnt figure out the problem. and the asus support site is down. i need help plz thx

I suspect your RAM might be bad. Can you try a different memory stick, or test the new one in another computer.

Check your PS - I have this board and ASUS recommends at least 500W. It looks to be a power hungry board.
Clear cmos and try again if PS is good.

Could be a bad board or a short in your case somewhere. I just set mine up after testing for a few days bare on the box it came in. I do this first to troubleshoot any issues before installing in the case

Try a different power supply unit, try a different stick of ram, are you sure you hooked up the front panel head correctly? Read the manual to double check.Try one stick of ram only in each ram slot to see if it boots.

Did you put the video card in the blue slot like the manual said as well as the little mvp card in the black slot?
your setup does require a bit more power than my system
I use 512Ram, 100G HD, X800GT Video, Venice 3000+ O/C to 4100+ with a 430W
can you test the ram in another system?
If and when you do boot up ensure you flash your bios to 0402 - the first 2 bioses were not too good - gave me some initial troubles.

Im glad i bought this ecs ka1 mvp extreme crossfireboard over the asus a8r mvp . Ive read many posts about the a8r not allowing high cpu voltage. My ecs board allows like 1.65 or 1.7 volts plenty enough for me.The only thing better on the asus board is 3.2 vdimm ecs board allows 3.0 but 3.2 doesnt really make a big difference and ecs could easily release a bios update to allow higher vdimm voltage.
