ASUS Striker Extreme not good for OCING

hi i have a ASUS Striker Extreme i cant even reach over 3.2ghz on a E6600 my friend has a board harf the price a he can reach 3.6 on his :banghead:

Deos'nt necesarily mean it's the board. Could just be a CPU that can't manage any higher.

All components OC differently, from what I've read Striker extremes do OC fairly well. You may want to find a tweak/OC guide for that board. Maybe get ahold of D44Ve, he had one and was able to OC pretty decently. Remember 3.2 isn't a bad OC, keep your components cool.

Are you able to post at higher than 3.2ghz? Is that using default voltages or increased? Did you leave any power saving features enabled (C1E, EIST, etc)? What do you have set on auto?

3.3 GHz / 1466 MHz is about average stable OC for your set-up. Your not too far off!!

doesnt mean the board - as there are a LOT of options. You'll just have to try a different approach, maybe get his advice - if his goes better, he may know a bit more about it.

That said - my brother has a striker, i have a board half the price - and mine does OC better.
Strikers have a billion options, but it doesnt pay off that well.

ive got the board and yes its a whore to OC but it works great here.. im running mine linked 3.4 ghz 8*424 fsb (1.4v) ram at 847 mhz 1T 4-4-4-8 (1.9v) (ram can do 2T 4-4-4-8 1100 mhz 2.3 volt)....... (also my rig dosnt go over 45c load)
but the thing to remver with this board is get the latest bios and remebr the cpu/NB and cpu vtt voltages i find are the most important ......
my max oc has been a lil over 3.6 ghz but going over the 424 fsb will take you to the next fsb strap and real fuck with your performance ...
going up the one fsb to 425 slowed my superpi score by a good second and took my everest memory read score from 11057 gig a second to just over 9000 meg a second...

and i have the power saving features enabled on my mobo.. pc in sleep mode uses 5 watts of power/ idle 240 watts load 340 watts..... note speed step did almost nothing to the amount of power my pc was using at idle...

Theres more than one method to reach an OC on the striker, until you post full details of your cooling with idle and load temps, and detail the method you've used to OC its a little hard to give out any good advice.

(My bro is a good one to talk to, as his is at 3.4GHz and could go higher if he wanted - he's being conservative)

any help with the volts and ocing would be grate i have my vcore set on auto im not to good in that department

when i set my vcore to 1.4 volts when my fsb is set on 1066 stock i still get a blue screen of death so any help like from people with the same systems would be grate
