Hello all
My m8 is wanting me to do an upgrade on his pc and he has the ABIT pro 3rd eye (754) MOBO with a 3000 Newc cpu.He bought the mobo and cpu about 1 year ago.Now he has come across A 3400 venice with 1MB L2 Cache.Question is will the cpu go with the mobo?



Any help would be much appreciated.

as long as it is the same socket type and his current bios will support it or you will have to get the supported bios.

Dont bother with the 3400, those older cores with 1 mb of L2 arent that great and dont OC much. A 3000+ Venice core would be much better even with 512k of L2.

He's not really an overclock sort of guy coz he's a bigger noob then me :).So the venice core not really an issue.But the mobo bios might be an issue.What bios version should i he looking at and if he needs the flash to accept the cpu what tools should i he looking for.

The guy said drop back to a 3000 but im not bothered bout ocin so 3400 clawhammer hopefully fine
