I am thinking of upgrading to this Firepro card and was wondering if there is a user that can tell me how fast will I be able to convert a video file to DVD. I am using a Amd quad phenom II with 8 gigs of ram. Right now I have a radeon 3870 overclocked 512MB and it takes 15 to 20 minutes. Any help appreciated.

That card is basically a HD3870 like yours but with the memory bandwidth cut to one quarter.

Meaning: your HD3870 is a lot faster. It'll be a downgrade, not an upgrade.

If you want to upgrade from your HD3870 for around $120, get a HD4870 instead -> that should cut the processing time in half (7 to 10 minutes).

However, if video encoding is your priority, get a nVidia card instead, a GTX260 for example.
