ATI HD 2900 XTX doomed from the start!

after the X19xx was released, the 7900 got a hurting put on it though, not by much, but just enough. The fact that these numbers are out and pretty much probably solid is odd. IT gets beat by its less powerful sibling. Strange indeed. I dont know if the chipset of the motherboard had anything to do with it. W1zzard, do you have a sample coming to you for testing so that we may see it?

Everyone has stated that driver will improve the performance which is true. I am just kinda pissed that I passed on a brand new XFX 8800GTX for $380 before Christmas because I was expecting this supposedly king of all kings card to debut in early January. Needless to say it got delayed over and over again. Even if this card beat 8800gtx, it has to be quite better not just barely, to justify the 6 months wait.

I kind of agree with you on that HV. However, passing up a deal like that is ludicrous. Id have taken that card and then sold it to get the new ATI one if it was indeed better. Man dude, seriously, you should have gotten that card.

what kind of computer experts are giving this news?

if direct X 10 in not backwards compatible, then a card made for DX10 would preform best in a dx10 game.

a 6200 works slower on UT2003 and dX8 than its native DX9?

detailed reviews matter?

If you add it all up, the significant delays in getting the product to market, plus the lack of information and benchmarks to the press, then I would start to get suspicious. Wouldn't you, unless you are totally blinded to these facts?

You have a product that has been delayed by such a long time, that expectations of it increase over time as people say it will do this, and do that.... Maybe this IS an indication of the problems that ATI/AMD are having, who the hell knows, only AMD/ATI can tell, and they certainly won't as they have obligations to thier shareholders.

We certainly won't know until the product is finally released. And DailyTech, is a spin-off AnandTech, which is one of the only reliable website that I know of that I know of that I rely on for my IT News, so I seriously doubt they will be deliberately posting shit about something without any substance behind it.

Yes, I was regretting it quite a bit. Well I had 2 choices, 8800gtx for $380 or 8800gts 640mb for $230. ATI was supposed to release this uber card on early Jan so it makes no sense to spend 50% more for 20% increase in performance. I sold my X1900xt fro $230 and I had Dell 24" LCD at the time so the 8800gts was more than enough. Of course, I got the 30" after that (wasn't plan to but a great deal showed up and couldn't resist). Now I need more juice for my LCD :eek:

actually, i have seen other benches w/ the 2900, and it beat the 8800 without a problem.

also, i don't trust andantech anymore, as i got the asus a8r-mvp mobo after reading their amazing review on it, but what i got was a 300 dollar piece of silicon that holds my gfx cards to the inside of my case.

Just wait until the card is actually released. We'll se the real numbers come out. If AMD/ATI don't put up a card that kicks nV's ass, then they might as well just pack up their toys and go home. That's what this game is all about - leapfrog!!!! One guy's in front, then the other, and back and forth...

Must we battle over extremely early benchmarks? Obviously, those who love Nvidia will point to these as being the supreme evidence of the 8800's superiority whereas ATI lovers will talk about how unreliable the benchmarks are. Let's just wait until it's out on the market.

You most likely saw the x2900XT beat the 8800GTS - in that upper-mid section, ATI had quite teh advantage. However, the XTX versus GTX, the XTX sadly loses.

And dont call fanboy hate, i've got ATI in every system but my gaming one.

I never believe any of these early reviews. Lets wait and see when there are more reviews, and when it is actually released. There is always so much marketing bs going on, that we really cannot know what's true until people in forums like this get our hands on it. So, we will see.

Nah i think they should still be allowed to post them. Make it a requirement that a warning has to be posted too:

"Note: These results are leaked benchmarks, which may be wildly inaccurate."
