Not criticisms, just thoughts:
1./ Memory chips could be on BOTH sides, therefore there could be 8, 12 or 16 memory chips.
2./ IHS could mean your sizing is wrong
when your looking at the memory chips on a video card, you look at the chips ontop only to figure out something about the card, there could be 16 chips but in just about every case the chips on the back are linked to the ones ontop which means there only for more memory, and won't affect rops, or the ring bus.
if it were 512bit there would be 16 memory pieces ontop,
but since its only 8 then it means this card is not 512bit its, 256bit, with 16 or 32 rops just like largon said.
