Before I give up on my 4870 I have to ask for one last opinion

Basically it keeps crashing on certain games. I can play demanding games like Star Craft 2 on high and receive no problems but crash with games like Super Meat Boy after like 5 minutes of play. I've monitored my temps while playing and I get a steady 64c so I don't think it's too hot. The only thing left I can think of is a software problem but as I said other games work fine. Is it time to get a new card?

Well that's just great. This is my second 4870 in 2 years that has died due to artifacts. It's becoming very costly

Do you recommend any ATI card that will last me for longer that is under $200?

you could try underclocking the mem a little just to see if you could still use the card, or maybe use it in a diff rig?

Yeah you sure you got enough airflow in your case? Could try turning up the GPU fan too. This chip probably isn't bad just getting too hot.

I think I'm going to try and sell it on. I haven't clocked it at all should I still reduce the memory?

Also how did my card get this bad in the first place? I have a pretty bad chasis atm but I am getting an Antec 900 soon. Will that stop my 3rd card from breaking?

My fan is already at 65% and my temps are usually at 62c when they crash which I don't think is hot at all.

Don't sell a bum card without disclosing that info up front man.
