Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Not awesome in what way? That they are integrating a new DX standard?

While I hear what they are saying, the statements are a red herring.

Well, Android is even less awesome for Blizzard. With Win 8 you can still play Diablo 3.

Well, all of Gabe's and now Rob's comments only refer to the metro part of Win8, while they ignore the fact that most of the gamers probaly will be spending 99% of their time on the desktop anyway. And why on earth would steam or blizzard want to sell their games via the metro store at all? Unless its some platform game, or something better suited for tablets/touch based devices, programs (games) are better off as "normal" windows applications which you dont have to sell via the metro store.
Also, they seem to be ignoring the fact that win8 is actually supposed to bring improvements in the graphics department, which can only be good for their games.

There might be some reason to complain for some developers, but imho Steam or Blizzard shouldnt really be bothered anyway, unless they plan a massive move into metro space (which would suck anyway).

I think that they are concerned that Microsoft is moving in a direction to close up their platforms.
There is nothing stopping them from making DirectX 12 for Windows 8+ only and only allowing the sales of such software through their store.

I'm not saying they will ... but they could.

Yeah I guess, but they would be shooting theirselves in the foot that way. Windows is this popular because it combines very good compatibility with a really open platform. When this open-ness comes to an end, I'm sure a lot of people will want to look for something else. But I guess only the people at Microsoft know what their plan is when it comes to openness.

True but you have Executives that run the company now big wigs that have no real idea what they are doing

Bill Gates wasnt much better but the philosphy at Microsoft has changed after he left

pre 2008 was Bill Gates after 2008 is Steve Ballmer whos been rated as the Worst CEO period by Forbes lol.

You went from a man who coded alongside his employees to a man that sits in a chair and says do this and signs off on terrible ideas,

Steve Jobs had his indomitable will and personal intensity
Bill Gates for intellect, quiet demeanor, and cutthroat tactics.
Steve Ballmer,is a man known for this image lol

Hes pretty much betting everything including the PC market itself essentially on Windows 8, and so far WIndows 8 has been underwhelming and the general public view is its terrible, to bad to as underhood its a much faster OS, just well no matter how fast it is if navigating it or using is sucks people are not gonna want to use it.

Considering the above man is head honcho for Microsoft i honestly wouldnt put it past them that the business will eventually get run into the ground.

Microsoft survives by throwing its weight around. well whats it say of the company and its upper managment when at various microsoft events the man doing presentations has a MAC  its just an epic laughable failure. Altho doesnt matter as anyone at upper managment in Microsoft has made millions if not billions working there so if it goes belly up or gets overtaken by rivals they are still rich.
