cheap phenom II dual core (unlockable model if possible), 785G chipset, 5770, corsair 450W PSU. 4GB of ram (DDR2/3 doesnt matter)

the resolution of his monitor is so low, this system will let him max just about any MMO out there.

going any faster results in more heat and power, which means a better PSU/case/cooling is needed.

PII x2 + 5770 combo has power for all modern games (with room to spare for MMO's, especially at that res)

Well, Heres a a basic one that last a pretty long time for 1366*768.
    Athlon II X3 -$70
    ASRock Extreme3 880G -$100
    4GB DDR3 -$100
    HD5770 -$160
    Samsung F3 500GB -$50
Nzxt Gamma or like case -$50
    Corsair CX400 -$35AR
    Disk Drive -$20
    Win 7 -$100

    Total $685, and extremely upgradable.
You could drop another 5770 in as the boards CF-capable, and it will support the BDs when it comes out.

    BarbaricSoul says thanks.

I know, but this isn't for me. It just depends on whether she wants to buy a slightly used PC or just go with all new stuff.

since she wants it for long term, i'd say warranty is important.

    Extremely slightly used :)

Warranty would be important, I agree.

Warranty info for what its worth:

Intel Core i7 860- retail boxed CPU (never breaks right :D)
4gb G.Skill Ripjaw 1600 DDR3 (CP is the original owner and Gskill is lifetime)
MSI P55M-GD41 mATX MB (bought bnib, unregistered could possibly be registered)
OCZ 500w ModXStream (bought used from XzX, unknown)
XFX Nvidia GTX 275 896MB GPU (Double lifetime transferred to my name)
750gb Western Digital Caviar Black HDD (Under warranty til 2011-12)
NZXT Beta Case (cases don't break )
24x Sony DVDRW Drive (bought new from Newegg)

That's all I will say about it since I do not want to sidestep the BST and the rules :toast:

    Mussels says thanks.
