OCZ Technology Group today announced its latest contest, “Win with the nia,” where competing gamers can use the revolutionary Neural Impulse Actuator to contend at national and regional levels for prize money and OCZ computer products. Gamers from all over the world will have the chance to put their nias to the test at LAN parties and e-sport competitions around the world, showing the gaming world just how incredible this new input device is at increasing immersion and lessening reaction times in the top PC titles.

The OCZ nia is an innovative new gaming peripheral, that is not a substitute for a mouse and keyboard but rather a pioneering new peripheral designed to provide an immersive experience for gamers. Train yourself by harnessing the power of your own biopotentials (electrical signals generated by activity patterns in muscles, brain, eyes) and OCZ will reward gamers who place in the top three places in global, national, and regional LAN levels using their nia.

OCZ is proud to offer the top competitive gamers their largest prizes to date…beat your opposition using the power of your nia and earn cash along with some great OCZ products as well.
    • First place in a global/national LAN: $2000 USD + OCZ DIY Gaming Notebook + Memory
    • Second place in a global/national LAN: $1000 USD + Memory + PSU
    • Third place in a global/national LAN: Memory + PSU
    • First Place in a regional LAN: $500 USD + Memory
    • Second Place in a regional LAN: $250 USD + Memory
    • Third Place in a regional LAN: Memory

In order to qualify, you must place in the top three in one of our recognized LAN events around the globe. Participating gamers must supply their own nia, which can be purchased from one of OCZ’s global resellers. The win must be documented and you must play a minimum of 50% of the events employing the nia. In addition, game stats and pictures must be provided to OCZ in order to validate the win.

Send all qualifying materials to contest@ocztechnology.com, including your contact and shipping information. Win with the nia while showing the world your gaming skills!

Please visit the "Win with the NIA" Contest page here for a complete list of rules, contest details, and qualifying LAN Events.

electrical signals from your brain... everytime you think or try to use a muscle a corresponding part of your noggin lights up... you calibrate that thing to translate those signals into commands.

very intresting in my mind if i remember correctly this product was tested ususally by ocz....and is very new does anyone think that this is the perfect chance for ocz to do a big well documented feild test of it/ i would put money on ocz handing out questionairs to the nia users asking them what they thought how it performed etc.

I wonder what the side effect of over-using one of these would be... like the carpal tunnel equivalent -

"My reaction time in Counter Strike is really great, but now when I get excited, I lose control of my sphincter."

I really dont think that this device can catchup with your actions on a high level of gaming.
I mean ok its possbile it can sense left right jump etc but i seriously doubt the 'translator' will be able to determine what you want if the desired action is run+strafe left+peek+crouch at the same time and immidietly strafe+left+jump+prone. Also a lot of action require you to coordinate your keyboard+mouse perfectly and thinking about moving+coordinating mouse

Ofcourse this might be a good fun device as it was virtual reality helmets and gloves.
We will have to wait and see how this evolves.

I would really like to review this and compare it with my uber fast thingers.

Note that human physical response variates from 100ms-1s and this might be competitive on this field but multi-tasking could be the bottleneck.

I've found in a lot of cases my hands dont respond fast enough, and I end up dying in FPSes as a result. Watching people game with it is freaky; apparently its not that hard to pick up!
